I usually dring one cup of Cafe Vienna and 2 cups of regular coffee. My husband and I have a drip maker but we grind the whole beans for that better flavor. Once, my brother-in-law sent some Jamaican coffee beans. Good stuff. My brother sent some Vermont roasted beans too. They were good. We like the Bed and Breakfast blends the most. Light or dark. I love the smell.

For Christmas we received a coffee sampler (things like chocolate, eggnog, hazelnut etc - you get the idea). My husband didn't realize they were flavored coffees and almost choked to death upon brewing a pot. He will not drink flavored coffees AT ALL. I think they're OK but they're not allowed in the house.

We usually buy Hills Brother Perfect Blend because my husband gets the shakes with the stronger coffee. If the budget was not so tight I would buy MJB that is one of my favorites. My in laws always drank that but they also had a spring fed well, I think the water has a lot to do with the taste of coffee too.

A while back my coffee pot broke and I boiled water on the stove, then let it steep through manually, that coffee was the best coffee I had had in a long time, so I think it might be that most makers today do not get hot enough emoticon

Remember those old clear glass perculators you put on the stove? Some say those make the best coffee.

I guess it is a matter of taste.

I like to go to the grocery store and get those little sample sizes of flavored coffees, those are a treat and a pick me up in the pm.

My pot is perculating away now...I thought I would say GOOD MORNING while I am waiting......

Most of them will serve you high octane, instead of decaf, because they order in bulk, and less people ask for decaf.Keep one eye on em. emoticon

Yes,some of them do add salt (at least I know they used to) -- but it's just a tiny amount. I did order coffee once in a restaurant and as she was refilling my cup I asked if it was decaf. She replied that all their coffee was decaf even if you ask for regular they serve it in a different pot but it is all the same coffee. That was just that one restaurant. I don't think the all do that.

Watch those fast food places and even some of the high-end coffee joints.GMA had a segment on them, seems you dont always get what you order.Caffen VS Decaf. Also did you know that a lot of places add (salt) to coffee to enhance the flavor. emoticon

Nothing but Gevalia for me. Traditional roast plus any or all of the flavored ones. The seasonal Pecan Torte and Creme Brulee are excellent choices. Any other Gevalia lovers out there?

I suppose I could be that addicted. There isn't a DD close to me but I do have a Winchell's close and even closer that than is Lamar's. I also have a couple Krispy Kremes in my area. I just will not go there. I figure if I don't have the habit yet, there's no sense in starting one. Right?

Loved Bob's coffee thoughts - I keep my coffee intake to just 1 or 2 cups a day. However - I have a fried who has an IV drip connected directly to Dunkin Donuts. Anybody else that in love with DD?

The longest hour of my life is the one I have to wait each morning after taking my medications before I can have my coffee emoticon

I usually have two cups in the morning (but my cups are VERY big) and then in the pm I will sometimes have one; usually a flavored type which helps nip some cravings.

Not too fussy on the brands actually.

Too much coffee? That would be me. I gulp down 10 to 12 cups before I go to work. (hard to believe?....trust me it's true) Can't some of these count as my water consumption?

You know you drink too much coffee when ...

* Juan Valdez named his donkey after you.
* you ski uphill.
* you speed walk in your sleep.
* you answer the door before people knock.
* you sleep with your eyes open.
* you just completed another sweater and you don't know how to knit.
* you grind your coffee beans in your mouth.
* you have to watch videos in fast-forward.
* the only time you're standing still is in an earthquake.
* you lick your coffeepot clean.
* your eyes stay open when you sneeze.
* the nurse needs a scientific calculator to take your pulse.
* your T-shirt says, "Decaf is the devil's coffee."
* you can type sixty words a minute with your feet.

For the rest of these, see

The best coffee made (if not camping of course) is that made with a perculator coffee pot. You just can't beat it, and I drink 2-3 pots a day (decaffinated of course). Camping, I think that boiled coffee is out of this world............and it just does not taste the same if you try to do it at home.

I love Starbucks except that I'm not very fond of the straight espresso: it seems like the coffee is cold before it touches your lips.

The company has a very nice web site that provides the nutritional info for all their food and beverages:

http://www.starbucks.com/retail/nutritio
n_beverages.asp

For me, it looks like the best bang for the buck is the venti nonfat cappuccino, at 130 calories for 20 delicious ounces.

I'm watching my BP, so I don't get to drink nearly as much coffee as I'd like, but I do give myself the occasional treat.

- Bob

I also have a perculator. It's an old Sunbeam that I've had for years and years. My kids laugh at it but it sure makes good coffee. I know you can still buy them. Our club just bought one for a man who was complaining about his coffee maker and wanted an old fashioned one. I didn't realize that it was the temperature of the water that made the difference, I just knew it makes better coffee. I don't usually make coffee unless I have company though. Another difference is the water you use. Where I used to live the water was bad and it made bad coffee. I used bottled water for my coffee back then.

Willows:Yes a stanless steel, electric perk.they have some new ones at walmart at a reasonable price for these times but I'm not sure how hot they get the water.Mine is an old GE,from the 70's,had it since it was new, bought it at a Gibsons.if you dont find one,I sometimes boil my water in a sauce pan(2 cups)and add a heaping tsp of coffee take it off and let it set for a couple min.strain it for 1 cup.I also boil it by the pot when company comes,I have a collection of Coffee pots (I'm an old Boy Scoutmaster,34 yrs.)a good perculator (non-electric)can be found at Walmart in the camping supplies section.Make a great cup with me in mind. emoticon emoticon

Yes,they do make crappy coffee. I have tried everything!!!! What kind of old coffeemaker do you have, maybe I can find on at the thrift shop? It seems the drip ones are the worst. I used to like the coffee that the electric(metal) pots made. Is that what you have?

Did you all know the secret to a great cup of coffee,is not in the brand per say,but in the temperature of the water when you make it.These new coffee makers, make horrible coffee, the water temp.in my old perk reaches 200 degree and man it make some cup of coffee. emoticon emoticon

2-3 cups a day, I have cut back a lot, use to be 4-6. French Roast is what I drink most, not sure of the brand, we have these little packet at work you stick in the machine. Before, I leave home I just have a cup on Instant Maxwell House or Folgers. Too much trouble to do more than that.

The nutritionist at the gym deducted every cup of coffee from my water total.

I don't drink coffee every day. I do like a cup once in a while but rarely finish the first cup. However, if I am at a restaurant and the wait person keeps filling my cup I can overdose on it pretty easy. I drink it black -- always have. I'm not particular about the brand.

I'm a home Starbucks junkie - my husband and I both love their whole bean - I usually drink 2 cups in the morning before school - can't have anything with caffeine after about 2-3 pm or we're both up all night!
Sundays, I may enjoy a little more - it's so tasty. I add Splenda and some fortified skim milk to help with the calcium...LK
