My great-granddaughter is three months old already. I have been trying to walk more lately, yesterday walked one hour to and from my doctor's office. Today it's raining so no walk however I can use the eliptical at home. Going out tonight to a birthday barbeque ... this same party last year resulted in fracturing my left wrist when I fell off my bike.

On May 7th my granddaughter gave birth to my first great-grandchild, a little girl ... 8 pounds 5.2 ounces My first grandson was born on May 6th, 1991, 23 years ago. Now we have back to back birthdays.

Since then we have been a busy family with a new addition, a fourth generation. I was honoured to become a young Great-grandmother.

Been a long time since writing here again. I have to make an effort more often. Since I posted I have had surgery on the wrist that I fractured in August. MRI showed bone spur, bone fragments and a torn ligament. Surgery was on Janaury 22nd and the surgeon also found a noncancerous growth called a Cluster of Lipoma which was also removed. I have been in pain since the surgery.

Took a walk to the grocery store for some veggies. Nice cool morning for a walk with my shopping buggy. Since fracturing my wrist there is no carrying shopping bags. Even pushing the shopping cart is difficult. I'm frustrated and around the next corner I see potatoe chips ... on the top shelf there are two bags of cheddar and sour cream and I wanted them. So I found a man shopping and asked for help getting them down .. no luck. Next a taller man working in the store who had to climb on a cart reach my chips... success and off to the checkout.

Got out of the house with my youngest daughter for mint tea and muffin at McDonalds. I probably shouldn't have had the muffin but too late. We were planning my oldest daughters surprise birthday party for her 40th on Saturday night.

Been a while since I wrote in my journal. Well another bad summer is almost over. On July 11 I lost my fifteen month old puppy Yardlee to a hit and run driver. I was devastated at her loss and the fact that this person did not stop. On August 17th I was riding my bike to a birthday bbq and fell off my bike at a stop sign. I used my hand brakes and forgot to put my feet down. Now in a cast for six weeks for an acute fracture of the distal radius. I think my balance issues from my stroke had something.to do with my fall. No more bike riding for me my family has taken it away. emoticon

I am also missing the first two months of work as a school bus driver .. for some reason they don't want driving with a cast .. lmao emoticon no bus or car

Just has our one week break from school/work. Back to a routine since yesterday as well as earning some money again. Spring is almost here and we still have fresh snow this morning. Time to start walking the dogs once the weather is warmer.

Tomorrow I will see my twin granddaughters turn 15 years old. One of them started her first job today. Spent some quality time with my two oldest granddaughters today... shopping and just having some fun. We will have to do that again soon.

It seems I keep forgetting to come here to post. Well it's the last week of March, on the 31st is the second anniversary of losing my youngest brother. Time is going too fast again. In the past month I have lost three pounds :) ... I walked to Tim Hortons this morning but have to get a ride back due to the pain of Osteo in my lower back and hips.

Next week is my birthday again.. a year goes by quickly. emoticon This is a big birthday and I'm not ready for this one.

Meisha my oldest dog has lymphoma and there is no cure. I refuse to put her through chemo... won't do that to her. My oldest male hardly leaves her side... he must know that she is sick... dogs are so smart.

Good Sunday morning. I'm going to help my daughter clean up her gardens today to get them ready for winter. My three dogs had me up before 7 am... don't they realize it's Sunday and I can sleep later :)

I have joined a couple of groups aimed at diabetics and hope to learn from them. My doctor also wants me to go to a group for diabetic education. I wonder how long before they call.

This past week I had three medical appointments with good news and bad news. It's been 2 1/2 years since my last stroke and I had a neurodoppler done this week. It showed the blockage in my carotid artery which was blocked 59% a year ago had neither increased or decreased... the neurologist was happy with that result.

Yesterday my family doctor informed me that I have diabetes... I'm still taking that news in. My older brother is also a diabetic. So time for some more lifestyle changes. My doctor had recommended I start the G I Diet and I am getting information for that. Also being sent to a program for diabetics to learn what it's all about.

What else can go wrong in my life... one thing is good for now and another medical problem pops up.

I have a problem getting in here to post in my journal. Now that we are in a new month I will try harder.

Next week I have a doppler for my carotid artery and two days later will see the neurologist for the results. A year ago the blockage was 59% so I'm hoping for a much better result.
