I've never thought of it as cheating. A few nights when my fitbit was just shy of 10,000 steps I marched in place to reach my goal.

lol.... You're not cheating when you walk or jog on a treadmill, right? Same thing! I get a lot of my walking in front of the tv at night, keeps me from snacking.

If you're tired of starting over, stop giving up!

That's not cheating! You're still doing the walking, you're just doing it in a different way.

You don't have to eat the whole thing.

Cheating would imply that you're not doing something you're supposed to be doing. The point of the step counting goal is to get you moving... not get you traveling a specific distance.

Nope. You don't physically have to go anywhere for your steps to count towards your goal! Good thinking! I never thought of that!! emoticon

No way! How is that cheating. Even if you're not moving in any direction you're still moving your body in the same/similar way.

Absolutely not! Those are "steps" just as valid as the others you've taken today.

Cheating would be wiggling your hips back and forth to make the little ball move and register steps you haven't taken.

If you're close to getting your 10k steps in, would you consider it cheating to run / walk / march in place to reach that benchmark?

First raise your standards, then raise the bar.
