I know my bariatric center was discussing a few years back the possibility of adding lapband to those who have had more traditional methods of gastric bypass and are not successful. Personally, I am torn. I have worked hard with my band to make it work for me. Many of the bypass folks who are now turning to the band didn't work with their tool, they took it for granted and never changed their ways. On the other hand, one of my best friends did have bypass, has been very successful over the last 10 years, but with having a baby almost 2 years ago has slid back a bit. If she should get to the point where nothing about her bypass is working for her anymore, I would want her to have the opportunity to get back where she needs to be, and I would support her 10-fold! This being said, I hope that Carnie is able to overcome the issues that are keeping her from being successful and is finally able to make things work for her!
I like her and I can't imagine how desperate she must feel to now do this! I wish her good and hope this helps her. I agree she needs to learn a different way of eating. I do not understand the husband, if what you say is true. He feel in love with her the way she is, so it isn't like she was thin and then got fat. I think more is going on there. Again, I wish her well. She should come to SPARKPEOPLE!

Everyone has the right to make the decision whether or not to have gastric by pass or lap band and I respect that, but Carnie has had the gastric by pass ( should feel lucky that she survived it, I know some that haven't) and now she's playing with fire again by getting a lap band. I know the band isn't as bad , but still that's not suppose to be a quick fix. She should of learned how to eat smaller portions with the first surgery, I mean she has 2 beautiful little girls. They don't care that mommy is fat, I've watched her show and her hubby gives her absolutely no attention what so ever, never eats with the family, never does anything with her. I think he's the problem, if she found someone that cared enough to spend time with her and the girls I don't think she'd have this problem... I hope everything goes well for her.
