check added sugars, use only own juice, water, fruit juice- with out added sugars, or very light syrup

Of course it's okay to eat canned instead of fresh. Frozen is better nutritionally than canned, and in fact, is often better nutritionally than fresh! That's because fresh fruit sits on a truck for hours or days, while frozen is usually flash-frozen at the site!

Well, eating canned/frozen is better than eating chips, right? One thing that shocked me is that I was looking for packed in juice, but when I read the nutrition facts, packed in syrup was actually LESS sugar. Sometimes I'll rinse my canned fruit for that reason.
For on the go, I like the fruit cups you can get taht are about half a cup. A little pricier per serving, but I also waste less. For smoothies and baking, I prefer frozen fruit. If I have plenty of time, I'd prefer the frozen and thaw it simply because they're generally unsweetened.
I don't eat canned fruit everyday just when we are out of fresh. And I try to make sure it is packed in 100% natural juice or light syrup. Take this morning for instance I ate oatmeal with peanut butter and honey, some canned pears in light syrup. I guess what I'm trying to ask is, Is it okay to eat canned instead of fresh when you don't have fresh? And is frozen fruit better than canned? I definitely buy unsweetened there.
