Wow, great information! Thanks Guys! Smoothies are still kind of new to me. I mostly just have my fruits and vegetables raw, but time wise, I prefer something quick and easy and smoothies are the perfect way to go! And they aid in getting more freggies in.
I'm going to try frozen spinach, half a banana or so, almond milk and some frozen mixed berries.....maybe peanut butter. I've been craving those ingredients for my first smoothie for WEEKS now. I just wasn't so sure about adding frozen spinach. Glad I can!
Yes, you can! Frozen sometimes has even more nutrients than fresh, because it is frozen right away, before it has time to lose anything.
I love adding spinach to my smoothies! I usually throw in an entire cup; you can't taste it at all, and it's only 7 calories or so, plus a freggie serving. My smoothies are usually 1% milk, spinach, a small banana or half or a large one, 1-1.5 cups of frozen berries, and a tablespoon of flax seeds (which get ground up nicely in the blender). Lots of freggie servings, vitamins, and fullness to get me through my mornings. Smoothies are my go-to breakfast on days I have class or have to work (have to be on campus at 8 AM, and live an hour away; traffic means I have to leave no later than 6, so no way I'm cooking anything!).
I use frozen berries, and frozen kale in my smoothies... and a bit of banana when I have it... some almond milk and chocolate protein powder... tastes goo,

Just about to enjoy my blueberry/spinach smoothie! I love that you can't taste the spinach and you're sneaking in an additional serving or two of veggies. :) I like the frozen fruits and veggies because it keeps it nice and cool.

Frozen spinach is just as good as fresh spinach -- and goes a longer way since it is compacted when frozen.
When I make smoothies I use avocado or banana for the "smooth" part, rather than milk. (I'd consider coconut milk, however.) Usually I just juice without any "smooth", and it is whatever is to hand, mostly veggies with just a little fruit.

I used frozen spinach in my smoothies. 1 cup spinach, 1 cup soy milk, 1 cup mixed berries.
I add either, depending on what I have on hand. And the great thing is that if you don't like your greens (which I personally LOVE), you can't taste them when you add a serving of peaches, strawberries, etc. My breakfast smoothie includes 3-4 servings of fruits and veges, 1-2 a leafy green, for Breakfast! How cool is that?! And it tastes great, too.

And frozen vegetables (including spinach) are often even BETTER than fresh, depending on how many miles your fresh vegetables traveled to get to you and how long it took them to get to you. Most frozen veggies are flash frozen, which means they retain almost all of their nutrients.
Yes, frozen spinach is just a good in your smoothie.

I've never added spinach to a smoothie because it doesn't appeal to me. It's not that I don't like it (I had spinach & grilled chicken for lunch today), I just don't want it in my smoothie.
My smoothies are always one part vanilla nonfat greek yogurt, one part 1% milk and one part frozen fruit (usually strawberries). I've been freezing the fruit myself while it's in season. In the winter I'll probably buy frozen fruit if fresh isn't available. Not all grocery stores carry frozen fruit that doesn't have added sugar and other ingredients. Last week I made smoothies with strawberries & blueberries, which was very good. I still have some blueberries in my freezer so I'll probably make them again soon. I always make a bulk batch (enough to make four 8 oz glasses) and freeze the extras. They come out to 140 cals, 2.5g fat, 10g protein.
I mean, I know you can add frozen spinach to smoothies, but is frozen just as good as fresh when it comes to smoothies? Our budget is kind of tight right now. It's just myself that makes smoothies and I have a Hamilton Beach Single Sever Blender that I find works great for me.
