You can download Firefox and get their Ad-Blocker - both are free! It really works well. (I am one of those paupers so can't afford to pay for something to do that:-)

Only that it is free enables me to have access.PLEASE keep it free. Some MUCH richer people can afford the convenience of avoiding ads - but advertisers would soon realize that all the people who can afford their products have opted out of seeing their messages. It would destroy the site for everyone. I hope the rich people are gracious enough to realize we're not all as lucky as they are - but we need SparkPeople, too!

I had this problem and sometimes there were 2-3 of the SAME ad at the SAME time. I got some screen shots which I forward to the tech. guys. They weren't able to help. What I did in the end was get Firefox with an 'ad-blocker' - I haven't had any more problems since.

Appreciate the question as well as the reply. Personally, I have never had an issue with ads; although, I have chosen to look at some; the others are there and do not trouble nor do they offend my concentration and enjoyment of this great service offered by Sparkspeople.com. I emoticon for creating, adapting and improving the site and especially for offering this great service to individuals throughout the world. The service goes way beyond weight management; but provides countless benefits in terms of nutrition, reinforcement, motivation and awareness - to name but a few. I would also suggest that anyone who would like to minimize ads - subscribe to "Spark Coach" get personalized attention in addition to the exceptional offering by Sparkspeople.com emoticon

There isn't an option to have them removed, but I'll pass it along as a suggestion. However, I don't believe we have any ads that should be floating across your screen unless you rolled your mouse over them. Also, if you have trouble with any ads that are causing issues like that or that are inappropriate, then you can report them using the instructions on this page: www.sparkpeople.com/community/help_answer.

Seriously.. the ads are very intrusive if you get anywhere near them with your mouse... and they float across the screen if you are typing a message for too long.

Seriously. I'd pay a couple dollars a month to make the ads go away. =/
