WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time.
A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Put together your own Spark page. This is a great way to communicate with other members and build relationships that will support and motivate you. You can do this by going to the START page and the green section has something about your Sparkpage.
2. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
3. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Thanks for the response. I read the new member guide. Also spent time tracking my food. Took way longer than I had hoped....feel like I'm neglecting the family. There is so much on the site that I keep taking these unintended detours. Trying to follow meal suggestions when I don't have any of the suggested food in the house and then trying to find substitutes takes forever scrolling down lists of possible choices....ach! I suppose there is a learning curve. Hopefully I will become the master of the site rather than the site being the master of me! By the way, I like your username. Inspired me to change mine!

It can be overwhelming so take it one small step at a time. The most important thing to do is MEASURE your servings, MOVE your body and MARK them in the tracker. You can do more as time and courage allows.

It can be a bit overwhelming at first but the site is really a great site to help you reach your goals. A good start is to read the New Member Welcome Guide (www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/get_started2.a sp ). Make small changes at first and before you know it you will have reached your goals.
I'd really like to do this, but seems like such a time sucker just navigating the site. Is this how I want to spend my time? Not sure. Tried before in 2009 but found it too confusing. Site looks a little different now. Maybe will be easier to follow, but I just want a simple way to begin before I lose my resolve. My goal is to lose 10 lbs before the Highschool reunion in Aug. after that, my long term goal is to lose a goal of 45 lbs in Two years....I think it is realistic.
