Since coffee, tea, diet drinks, milk, juice, soda pop---all hydrate the body...Yes, they all count as water. But regarding your health, there is an upper limit for each beverage. This SP article gives the exact amounts:

I don't count at all. Drink to thirst, not an arbitrary number.

I personally wouldn't count either as water. I feel like the chemicals in the Crystal Light is harmful to my body whereas generally drinking water should be a benefit so I don't drink (nor would I count) it. The caffeine in coffee is a diuretic, which makes the typical person urinate more excreting more fluid than normal.

I think all-in-all, it's a personal choice though. Many people would tell you that EVERYTHING fluid counts as water. I just don't see it the same.

Thanks for the info, sorry to beat a dead horse. I think I have all the info I need. I don't mind drinking water, and in the summer I hit it pretty hard, but I think I get plenty of fluids without drinking actual water.

Even weight watchers counts crystal light mix ins as water. I don't know about SP. My self I like adding fresh lemon or limes to my water. But I have asthma and do enjoy chewing or eating on the rinds after I'm done with my water. You can also try Perrier with lemon or lime. For some people it is an aquired taste, start out sipping it ubtil you get you used to the bubbly.
Trust me, once you learn to like it, you won't want to drink anything else.

Not coffee, it dehydrates the body requiring you to drink more water. emoticon

I'd definitely count the crystal light. Not sure about the coffee.

The main thing is, are you properly hydrated? Every time you pee should be pretty much clear or a pale pale yellow, including first thing in the morning.

If yes, then you are probably drinking the proper amounts of liquids.

This question is posted here at least once a week. Every time the votes are divided. I personally do not count anything except plain water, but I also do not drink coffee or Crystal Light either.

Up for debate. I don't count coffee and flavored water, but i also have no problem getting in my water-- but that is just me.
Go ahead and count it. Many will say that it is a liquid and counts toward your total. you can also count milk (if you drink it) as water. Tea, some count soda (again I don't), But if crystal light is how you can tolerate water-- go for it.

Does water have to be just plain water? Hitting 8 cups of water is tough unless I can count coffee and crystal light! What can I count as water?
