I have lost 44 pounds and am maintaining - and my average calorie intake is generally about 1000 to 1100 per day. I guess that works for me - I am only 5'1/2" tall with small bones. I rarely reach 1200 per day because I focus on keeping sodium VERY low and eating a lot of protein.
