As the old song goes,"accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative". Give yourself credit for the positives things you do during the day, like eating a healthy breakfast and lunch. Try not to beat yourself up if you're not perfect in the evening. Remember, you're trying to change habits learned over a life time. that won't happen overnight, a week, a month or even a year. Change takes time. Thus the need to be patient with yourself and your body.

So, if you're eating right at breakfast and lunch, that's a great start ! With time, your healthy habits will spill over into dinner. What to do for now ? One thing you might do is to make sure you are eating enough during breakfast and lunch. Not eating enough calories during the day can cause a person to feel ravenous at night. Are you eating enough servings of fresh fruit and veggies ? If not, try eating more veggies with your meals. fruits and veggies are loaded with fiber. Eating foods that are high in fiber will help keep you full for longer. Try eating more high fiber foods. You may find that also helps you have fewer cravings in the evening.

Also, do make sure you've got some snacks ready for the afternoon. Snacking is a part of a healthy lifestyle. Have some fresh fruit on hand, nuts, microwave pop corn, maybe a granola bar. These are foods that taste good and have some fiber.

So, no more beatings ! You're not doing anything wrong. Be patient with yourself and your body. Accentuate those positives and eliminate those negatives !

Best choices to snack on are blueberries, strawberries, actually any kind of fresh berries. Plain popcorn or sprinkled with a little parm or cinnamon. SLICED ALMONDS. 4 wALNUTS FOR HEART HEALTH. Tangerines, an apple, a pear, peaches, plums. Cereals like Cheerios and Shredded Wheat with skim milk are good for you.

Celery with a dab of peanut butter., 1 ounce of cheese. Bordens has Fat Free American Cheese you can have three slices for about 90 calories or 1 STRING CHEESE STICK AND 1 BREAD STICK.

If you are not, track your food. This helps me make better chooses in the evening. I eat when I am bored, so I have been using my evenings to update my Sparkpeople site. Also reading others ideas, struggles and success has been a huge help. emoticon

I do pretty good during the day with eating healthy. At night though I always slip up. I don't think that I am really all that hungry but I just feel the need to eat. Any suggestions?
