Since 80% of your weight loss will be from diet, not exercise, you can still lose weight!

If you haven't updated your current weight and weight loss goal in Spark for a while, that would be a good place to start. Plan your goal date based on 1-2 lbs a week though, since you aren't able to add in a calorie deficit due from exercise. And then really dedicate a month to tracking and following the calorie range suggested!

My own experience doing that was surprising to me---actually eating at a little higher calories I did indeed start seeing a drop in weight! Its counter-intuitive, but really--our bodies do 'protect' themselves from getting too few calories! I also felt better and had more energy. I've enjoyed being able to track some of the nutrients too, as I never had watched my sodium/potassium before, etc. Makes a difference!!

To Change your Weight Goals and KGs to Lbs: On your START Screen, down on the left side is the My Goals Section....Under the weight one...in little yellow print is a "change Goal" button; click it, and it will take you to the screen to update it all! The first entry is your current weight, and that's where you select kgs or lbs...!) Have fun!!

Unfortunately because of the heart attacks, the continuous crappy back, and several car accidents, I am not able to do the strenuous exercise, sadly. The will is there but as soon as I walk too fast, exercise too much, allow myself to get very upset, I go into atrial fibrillation, then have to work on that without the help of pharmaceuticals, so I just must remain very calm, and I thought, eliminate some of the good food i was eating, but now I have found out that is the wrong way to go so i am totally confused. By June 9 I will be back home from my five week greyhound bus trip and will at least get back to deep water aqua. Much success to the rest of you, my struggling friends. emoticon emoticon

Nothing increases my appetite more than a good workout. Walking won't do it for me, but a good run or a hard ST session at the gym makes me want to munch constantly when I get home!

I know not everyone is physically able to do high intense exercise, but if you're struggling to have an appetite, I would suggest trying moving more.

I seem to be having that problem too. Because I have been stuck on a plateau for two years now, and desperately need to drop forty to have a healthy heart, I finally went from being vegetarian to vegan, thinking that the dairy was keeping my weight up. I have already stopped sugar for over two years now. That did not help. I have been gluten and soy free for years because if allergies. How do I break this hold that I am caught in? Someone told me that I just was not eating enough food, and that really blew my mind. How could eating more make me weigh less? I have not been counting calories or weighing and measuring, just cutting back on the healthy stuff i do eat. I am glad to know the high content of protein in the raw sunflower seeds that I eat every day. I get discouraged because i think I eat so healthy. Maybe I need to weigh and measure. Is that the answer? When I am eating at other people's place they always think I should have more food on my plate. emoticon emoticon

Short version: Try sunflower seeds. And I'm in a similar boat.

Tl;dr version below:

I sympahtize. I'm a chronic under eater which lead to my weight gain. Anyway, I'm not hungry often and find it difficult to eat. Grazing helps. Try sunflower seeds instead of nuts. I buy the roasted/salted already de-hulled sunflower seeds by the bag. When I see my calorie count/protein/fat/sodium is low (again) I almost look forward to measuring out some sunflower seeds and snacking on them. I add sunflower seeds to baking as nut substitutes and in salads.

I need help with breakfast and lunch. Breakfast I'm getting better with since I work out right after dropping my daughter off at school. If I don't eat, it creates problems. After I work out I think about getting a quick, quasi-healthy lunch (next door to Subway and a grocery store with pre-made salads and healthy platters) but see the calories I just burned after all that work is less than a bottle of juice... I skip lunch. Or think I'll make myself a salad when I get home and that doesn't happen because I get busy doing other things.

My husband insists on dinner so that's where most of my calories go. I just forced myself to eat a cup of grapes for a snack and yikes... was that hard. The elliptical this morning was easier.

try adding healthy oils, such as sprinkling veggies with olive oil. it adds up fast. and it makes the veggies taste YUMMY (hmmmm I think I'll make stir fry veggies for lunch now) Avocado is another good healthy fat.

Yes, please let me know what steps to take. One of my problems is finding alternatives for all the "nuts" that are suggested for meals and snacks. I am allergic to all nuts and gluten. I try substituting other things but it takes so much to fill the Calories, Carbs, Fats and Proteins requirements. Any help you could provide would be most appreciated.

So you are having difficulty eating 1200 calories daily???
To make more helpful suggestions, I would need to see your nutrition tracker.

1200 to 1550 Calories. I never calculated before, just tried to eat healthy. So now, it seems like I need to eat more but don't feel as though I can. I have lost a little weight and am increasing my activity daily...I'm just not that hungry.

Right now I am eating 3 meals a day with 2 snacks. It's just hard to eat all required (Calories, Carbs, Fats and Proteins) in one setting 3x/day. I am working out a plan to eat smaller meals as you suggest and do "healthy" grazing through the day.

Yes, my dilemma is furthered by the nut allergy emoticon as well as gluten intolerance. I'm not giving up though!!!!!!!

Which amounts? The amount of calories, the amount of carbs/fat/protein, the amount of fruits & vegetables? If it's the calorie range you have trouble reaching, try adding things like olive oil, yogurt or butter/nut butters for an extra, less-filling calorie boost. That is, considering you don't overdo it. If you mean getting the right amount of carbs, fat, protein or the amount of fruits & vegetables, you can try not eating big meals by breaking the meal into smaller parts to graze on throughout the day.

Sorry just noticed you have a nut allergy, so disregard that part!

I sometimes have a difficult time eating the amounts of food recommended. I get full and just cannot consume anymore! Does anyone else have this problem.........I am SLOWLY losing weight, yet I think I may lose more if I didn't have to eat so much at some meals. Oh, I forgot to mention; I am diabetic.

Any suggestions???
