The best thing to do in situations like that is just estimate. Estimate how long you were actually on the bike for, and give a general RPE for it. Was it leisurely? Moderate? Vigorous? Enter it in that way.

I agree that the best way to track cycling is endomondo btw. I don't trust its calories burned feature but it gives detailed times for each mile and has a great autopause/autoresue feature.

I used Map My Run but I forgot to turn it off when we were stopped, went inside the house, and drove her home afterwards so the info was totally wrong (oops!)

The best way is to use a smart phone app such as Endomodo. It uses GPS to track exercise your time and distance. You can also invest in a computer for your bike. Your local bike shop can install it for you.

Perhaps log it as 45 minutes @ 12 mph (= 9 miles distance)?

Is there a way to figure out calories from slow bike ride? I was biking with a friend and we did a lot of stopping and starting and a break in the middle, so I can't figure out our mph since I can't use time and distance because of all the stopping during the ride... I think it was around 3 hours (not counting a long break we did in the middle) and we went 9 miles but I don't know how much time of that was at a stop. So how can I figure out how many calories I burned?
