I'm think of trying it next month. I've been at a calorie deficit now for almost 8 months straight so I think you're right Jennilacey. I also sort of lost my mind in June and ate on 1200 calories a day for the whole month while burning 700-1000 calories per day. I think that's how I screwed myself up and I can't seem to get back on a good roll. I was losing 8-12 lbs per month and I've lost a grand total of like 7 lbs in the last 3 months combined.

I did it and it worked.... always busted me through a plateau/slow weight loss. Still sort of do it but not necessarily for weight loss. I just get really, really hungry for 1-2 days after a few heavy training days. So I tend to eat less on days I train I heavy because my appetite seems to be surpressed and more on the days following.

I'm not sure exactly *how* it worked, it just did. Maybe it works so well in the last 5-20 lbs or so because we've been on a calorie deficit for so long (which causes metabolic slow down) and raising our calories for a few days here and there revs up the old metabolism. It's usually metabolic damage from a prolonged calorie deficit that's the culprit behind plateaus.

I'm sorta doing this right now - I'm solidly at the Last Ten and between beginning to feel sluggish in some of my workouts and only being able to plan to lose 1/4 lb a week (if I'm lucky), I did some calculations, identified that I should maintain at my goal weight at 2100 calories, and that if I don't go over that I won't gain (but can also plan to lose more slowly). So I still have my 1550 cal days, usually eat closer to 1800, and am allowing myself 2-3 days a week at 2100. I've only started this week so can't really speak to how it's working yet. But I can say it's nice to have those extra few hundred calories when I want them!

Do something everyday that your future self will thank you for.

I've heard and read a bunch about this method and seen anecdotal success stories. I've been considering whether this will help me getting moving off this semi-plateau I've been on since June. Have you tried it? Thoughts? Suggestions?
