Ally Spark People has a lot of resources and the Nutrition Tracker is a great one. I used another tracker that was not nearly as informative and comprehensive as SP's. Keeping tabs on the portion size is the hardest thing you have to do yourself. It gets easier, though. Good luck

Thank you, Coach Nancy! I had no idea there was a feature like that. That will make reaching my goals a LOT easier!

You can use our SparkRecipes.com site and add your recipe there and the program will generate the calorie and nutrient content for your recipe based on your ingredients. It may seem like a hassle in the beginning to add recipes but once you have your recipe added, you won't have to figure the calories/nutrients again.

Like many others, I struggle with mindless eating. I know that keeping a food journal or at least keeping track of what you eat throughout the day is one of the best ways to overcome that horrible habit. However, I am having a lot of trouble with counting calories! I do not know how to determine how many calories are in items that are not in the food directory. For example, I made a potato soup from an old recipe, one that didn't have portion sizes or calories. I tried to estimate how many calories were in it, but I realized I have no idea how to figure that out! I don't want to guess too high and not take in enough calories for the day, but I don't want to low ball the amount and eat more than I should. Does anyone have any tips?
