There's a lady I work with who sits on one of those yoga balls while she works. it helps her back and is supposed to help strengthen core muscles just by having to keep your balance and sit up right on it.

If you have access to a computer while you're at your desk, check out SparkPeople seated videos. Some of the seated workouts are for people who at mobility-limited, but are also totally good for everybody. Also, I think there's a specific video about working out at your desk.

Good luck!!

Hi MANDMDAD those are great ideas I didn't even think about isometric exercises. I've always wanted to get one of those cycles that you can put under your desk I just don't know how noisy it would be. I love the fidgeting idea too thanks!!

I just kind of fidget around as much as I can and stretch quite a bit.

Hold your feet off the floor while contracting your abs - alternate legs or both at once.

Squeeze a racquetball in your hands.

Tap your toes, vigorously (on the carpet so you don't drive people bonkers).

Isometrics - just flex and hold various muscles.

I'm looking for a way to burn some extra calories at my desk does anybody have any ideas? I'm also the first person you see when you come into our department so it has to be something I can do seated. Any ideas will be appreciated!!
