Do people drink carbonated water as an alternative to soda? I actually don't like carbonation, so I prefer just regular water. When you stop drinking soda, is it easier to transition to something that still has carbonation? I've never been much of a soda drinker, and still prefer things without carbonation. Is it just a preference? I've heard so many different things about this, I guess I really am curious about it.
I love it! I buy store brand cans by the twelve pack (I recycle at least). I like the cans because they're cheap and always fizzy. Big bottles don't seem as fizzy to begin with to me and they're always flat at the end. Sometimes I freeze the cans and use them as ice packs for my salads and cold sandwiches at lunch. Tuck a Mio or Chrystal lite in your lunchbox and it makes a great impromptu Spring or Summer picnic (don't we wish).
I have replaced my diet Cokes with the sparkling water (flavored, but not sweetened). It gives me the soda feel but not the sugar/artificial sweetener cravings. I still want a Diet coke sometimes (it's only been 3 weeks for me) but I'm staying away!

I substituted my favorite Diet Coke with flavored seltzer for a long time. In the last year I have been able to give seltzer up almost completely. I have it occasionally, but haven't had a real soda in a very long time.
I love sparkling or Mineral water. I have always been a fan, probably because I lived in Germany and they drink a lot of it.

I enjoy the bubbly mineral waters, especially when the weather warms up, drop in a slice or two of lemon or lime piece. Hate the fake flavored ones, but my husband only drinks those, he doesn't like just plain mineral water, different strokes for different folks. But I never drank sodas, either, so am not trying to replace that, the flavored ones might be better for you, in order to change yourself over now. There are many brands, and you don't need to spend a lot of money on them.
I have a soda stream. But my favourite carbonated beverage is an icy cold beer

I use a SodaStream too. I make an occasional diet soda, but mostly carbonated water.

I bought a Sodastream and make my own fizzy water. I have been known to add some ginger syrup to the water. Mendota Springs is the brand of flavored soda water they have around here. Not too much added to the water.

Perrier does come in lemon flavored. If you need a fizzy fix, try sparkling flavored waters. Poland Springs brand is popular in New England, but there are tons of other brands across the country. Adironak is a popular brand of sparkling water. Whole Foods and Trader Joe's also have really tasty flavored mineral waters. You might like flavored seltzers too.
But, do read the label. Some sparkling waters do use sucalose or another artificial sweetener. I prefer the brands that don't use them myself.
I'm kind of cracking myself up right now. I'm trying to quit sodas because they are a huge addiction of mine. A co-worker suggested carbonated water. So I went to the little convenient store and got some Perrier water. It's so weird to be drinking something bubbly, with no after taste. I can't seem to get over it, ha ha!
