WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time.
A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Put together your own Spark page. This is a great way to communicate with other members and build relationships that will support and motivate you. You can do this by going to the START page and the green section has something about your Sparkpage.
2. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
3. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. A healthy lifestyle is a process - more of a journey than a destination. SP with all its features and tools can help you along the way and with the support of its members, well, it's a recipe for success!
The best way I found to get going was to use the "Getting Started Guide" which you can find at the top of your Start Page under the “How to Use the Site” tab. It will take you step-by-step in getting you up and running and in no time at all you'll be feeling right at home!!
Don't expect to change everything overnight. It takes small steps to get from where you are to where you want to be. Just think about The Tortoise and The Hare. You can win the race if you stay focused and take slow, steady steps to get there.
Surveys have shown that participants in Message Boards lost more weight and stayed with their program longer than non-participants so come by as often as you can. Here at SP you'll find all kinds of motivation and support from people who have similar goals as you do. We are all taking this journey together and we truly want to see each other succeed!!

Howdy ALL..I'm Leighanne and I'm from Chester,TX which is deep East TX. I've been slowly losing weight just from choosing to eat better and am now looking to start a good work out. I am a law enforcement dispatcher/911 and work shift work. Dispatchers have terrible diets and are very unhealthy from all the stress and sitting for 12 hours. I also am a ghost hunter, mother of 5 kids with one grand daughter, and we have a mess of chickens, 1 calf, 2 dogs, and 1 cat. I finally decided to join because I need some encouragement :) I am new to this site, so please bare with me while I figure out what I'm doing lol
