Ha! I thought someone else was finally asking the question I've been wondering...how to track "boinking" on the Spark app! My best guesses have been yoga or cardio--still not sure--but if I'm sweating and my heart rate is up for 2 hours then I want credit!
Anyone know an average rate for burning calories???

I wondered why anyone was posting a message about "boinking" and that was the only reason I clicked on this! LOL....the realy funny part is I`ve heard of 'boinking',but never heard of bonking :D ....and LUANN what was your comment???? just curious :) FUNNY

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I guess the term is officially bonking, not boinking.
Seems like I need more carbs. I tend to focus on protein and let the carbs take care of themselves since I like carbs more, but clearly I do need to be careful to have enough.

As you continue to exercise, you're going to notice that some days you may have more energy than others. You'll also find that some days, you're energy totally disappears too. And there are lots of different reasons why some workouts just aren't as good as others.
Did you get enough sleep the night before ? Were you under any unusual stress ? Did you eat enough during the day ? Was your day more active than usual ? Are you under the weather ?
During the summer, humidity can cause problems with a person's exercise routine.
There are just going to be times that your body doesn't want to do what you want it to do. Do you push through ? In general, I would say no. If you're fatigued, you don't want over do it because your risk for injury increases. If it were me, I would have done some lighter type of activity. If I felt really fatigued, I would have stopped for the evening.
Missing one workout does not make you a slacker. You really will find that some days are going to be better than others. It happens.

Which in all fairness, "Boinking" IS a calorie-burning activity, but not *quite* what the OP had in mind. ;)
Heather Writer, mother, wife, and breadwinner. I love to run, but running doesn't love me, so I'm switching to my low-impact bike.
Small thing, but the term is "bonking". Boinking is...different.

I'm not sure what you had throughout the day or what kind of exercise you're doing, but you might need to eat something that's a little more carb-heavy, especially if your exercise is high intensity activity. Here's an article about pre-workout eating that you might find helpful:
It's hard to know for sure, but it sounds like your blood sugar was a little low and that's why you started feeling this way. It's not a good idea to just try and push through it because that can make you feel even worse. One option is to stop, have a small snack with 20-30 grams of carbs in it and wait 10 minutes or so. If you feel better, then you can likely continue. Of course, if this becomes an ongoing issue you'll want to talk to your doctor about it.

Tonight I had a light dinner (vegetable soup and chicken) and went to exercise about 1 hour later. I found it much more difficult than usual to keep my heart rate in my target zone while doing cardio, and after 30 minutes, I boinked -- I felt weak and shaky and had trouble even just walking. I managed to do a little strength training but it wasn't what I'd planned for.
- what is happening in my body when this happens? - how can I prevent it? More carbs beforehand? Protein? Fat? - if it happens again, what is the best thing to do? Try to finish the workout? Quit immediately? Eat something -- and if so, what?
