I have done the body by vi and still drink the shakes. I never did replace 2 meals a day but I did replace breakfast. I really enjoy the shakes because first of all they taste great and you can add pretty much anything to them for extra flavor. But most of all I love that they have a high nutritional value to them. I am not sure if its a mental thing but I felt like I had more energy when I would drink those for breakfast.

There is nothing in the Body by Vi shakes that isn't provided more cheaply elsewhere. Meal replacement diets don't teach you long-term healthy eating habits, and the truth is, most people who do them tend to gain the weight back after they stop because they never learned how to handle real food.
Do they work? Of course. Calorie restriction is how everyone loses weight. Eat fewer calories (or in the case of Body by Vi, drink fewer calories) than you burn, and you will lose weight. These things make it easy to do the math.
However, what do they teach you about pizza? Or pasta? Or how to handle Aunt Joan's famous apple pie?
There is nothing in these that isn't in the grocery store brand shakes. They have no special advantage. Basically, you might like the taste better than cheaper brands, but is flavor really worth spending THAT much? Is this going to treat the cause of your current "rut", or would it better serve your time (and wallet) to find out why you're not progressing, and fix it?
Personally, I'd rather eat. I like food. A LOT. I'm a total foodie, and I like to eat. I like flavor. Not milkshakes.
I have been known to have a pre-workout protein shake for quick energy, but that's because my usual alternative is not to eat (I don't get up early enough to make breakfast) and not as a meal replacement.
Fresh, whole foods and vegetables are far superior to anything a premixed, high-dollar shake can offer.
Remember that companies like this don't make their money off of their product. They make it off the representatives who pay for the privilege of sales, and it's little more than a pyramid scheme. Frankly, even if I wanted the product, I wouldn't buy it from them, because I don't like multilevel marketing schemes on general principle.
Should you buy them? If you want to, you like the taste, and can afford it, and you follow the program, you'll lose weight. But you won't be treating the real source of your weight gain in the first place. You didn't gain weight because you weren't living on shakes. You gained weight because like the rest of us, you ate too much, and exercised too little. If you don't want to do something for the rest of your life... why start now?

I did use body by vi and loved the flavor and consistency. I also have kept the weight off. When I am back to work I will probably start back on it. I was more alert and felt great.
Don't get me wrong it is not for everyone but I seen huge benefits from it in many ways for myself...my sleep, my water retention, energy, weight loss and much more. I was also I think eating more fruits and veggies overall and well I didn't have the sweet cravings or salt cravings that I tend to get when I am doing my day to day healthy eating

I agree with the addtiives, etc. As a professional, I've done a bit of reserach on it and find that it's pretty hard to find out what's *really* in that stuff. Why?? If it's so perfect for you and such a miracle product, why won't they expose all they put in it? Hmmm.
My other big issue with it (and most similar companies out there) is that look at what it's actually advertising "Drink these shakes ALONG WITH a balanced *diet* and adequate *exericse* to see amazing resuts" or something like that. My thoughts are: "OF COURSE you're going to see good results, BUT you'd see good results with a balanaced diet and adequate exercise WITHOUT needing to spend hundreds of dollars on artificial junk weekly/monthly."

I've seen a lot of threads on this stuff lately, and my response has always been the same: WHY!!! Meal replacements and supplements and all that junk is so unnecessary! You're part of a great program and supportive community already, so why not just follow SparkPeople's guidelines? It's free and effective if you stick with it! You don't have to drink some mystery shake with all sorts of artificial stuff that's probably not good for you in the first place.
There have been lots of threads on this, you should do a search. Most ppeople here do not advocate this. Why not change your eating habits to something you can keep up? Body by Vi is expensive, and yeah, it probably "works", but that's because when you're on it, you're restricing your caloric intake, which you can do with food. Seems to me you could a. buy less expensive (and cult-ish) products or b. eat whole foods and get the same results.

Anyone ever done the body by Vi system? It's a meal replacement diet with protein shakes. I've done some research and the shakes look healthy and based on nutrition. Usually I'm not a fan of drinking my meals (but it's only 2 meals a day). I am just stuck and needed something different to get me out of my rut.
Just wondering if anyone else has tried it and had any success...
