I've had mine for over a year now. I really like it and wear it all the time. Love that I can sync with SP now, so that saves time. I used to just add in my calories that I had ate from SP into BM so that is still the same only more accurate , I sync mine about every 2-3 days. Keeps me in line to keep moving. emoticon emoticon

I have been able to sync my food from Spark to Bodymedia, but it only syncs calories. Would be really cool if they got it to sync *everything*.

I will say, the first three months are free! Even with a second-hand monitor! You could get one that is gently used and try it out for those free months and then decide if it is worth the extra fee, and resell the used monitor. I got mine for $50 on eBay and I see them sell for anywhere between 40-60 typically. So, you could try it out for what would be an expense of $20- I know that is still money, but that is a possibility too. That was my initial plan with my armband, but now I am thinking I will keep it.

Thanks for the update on the fees. That's still something of a stumbling block for me - must be my German stubbornness :)

I just got my Bodymedia and will let you know. My question is that it says that it will sync with SparkPeople but I am getting the impression that it will not sync the food diary. So, the question is if I have to do my food diary in Bodymedia and then sync into SparkPeople. I am not sure but hopefully I will figure it out.

They added new subscription plans, actually, so you can do a month to month for 6.95/mo, or $59/year or $89/2yr

I'd love to be able to track metabolic rate more readily and accurately but have to say that I'm really put off by the $7 month fee for access to the information. I know the company says it's to be able to update programs quickly and easily but I'm not sure the value proposition is there for me. That's nearly $85 a year just to be able to use a device that one has already purchased, and a not-inexpensive device at that.

I'm still on the fence.

BodyBugg and BodyMedia are really similar, made by the same company actually, but for some reason they are still "different" in the market? I'm not sure why.

I love my BodyMedia because it DOES tell me more than Spark. In addition to monitoring my sleep (!!!!) and my steps, it monitors my "galvanic skin response" and temperature/flux to tell how much I am using my muscles and how fast. It's pretty cool. It gives a MUCH better approximation of how many calories I'm burning during exercise AND during daily activity (ie, cleaning the house, working in labs, etc).

I'm more active- not in terms of exercise but in terms of daily living- than SP tells and it isn't "walking based" activity so a simple pedometer just isn't enough for me. I found I needed to eat a LOT more- which was why I wasn't losing weight as quickly as I thought I should!

The bads: it isn't waterproof, so you have to take it off to shower- which is fine, really, because you can manually enter that in. HOWEVER, you can only edit "off body" time if it's been 30 min AT A TIME (not total), otherwise it will just "fill in" the time by itself based off of activity levels before you took it off. ALSO, you can't use it while driving, because it counts steps and activity higher because it think you are moving. :P Also, it costs $7/mo after the first three months.

I actually find the price to be well worth the data- and this is data you can't get via FitBit.

*I bought my BodyMedia second-hand on eBay. It cost $50 (compared to 100-150!). I still got the free trial of the internet syncing.

Looking for feedback from users of the BodyMedia armbands to see how you like them.
