Also, be aware that no hospital in either Birmingham, Alabama or Birmingham, England has any connection to the diet. It's one of those urban legends-- somebody just made it up, and nobody knows how the name "Birmingham" got attached. It was NOT invented for cardiac patients in any real hospital.

Agree with Becky,

Use sparks people nutrition plan- it is safe middle of the road advice..
Keep the composition true- find alternatives if there is something you dislike eating.. Keep the structure true..
Weigh and measure food so you know your getting enough and also avoid short changing yourself..

This is just another crazy weight loss diet.
You eat a very restricted diet for 3 days, lose some weight, mostly water.
Then eat more normally for 4 days.
Then repeat.
