I don't know if you would call my out of control eating binge or emotional eating. Like you I do well, sometimes for weeks. eating well and exercising each day. I lose size and weight, I feel great. Then something knocks me off my perch- this last time it was my 10th wedding anniversary and trust me we are not in a good place. I eat and eat and eat- I have regained 5kg and have been binging ? emotional eating? for days. I need to get my head back in a good place and start over. Is there something that happens on the weekend that upsets you? Is there a group you could join so you are in company and enjoying yourself? You need to find the trigger.
I have had to come to terms with the same thing myself. You feel horrible when you are done. I hate this cycle I have been putting myself through. I keep thinking it's my problem and its not that big of a deal, but really it is. It's not healthy for us in so many ways. I just joined a group on FB to help me and see if that works. At least if I have the urge at night perhaps someone on line may be able to get me through it.
I have been doing dedicated to the Insanity workout, and have been following the meal plan, but then the nights are the absolute worst. I started looking it up on the internet over the last couple of days and have realized it is a condition that a lot of people suffer from and while we know "yes we can control it" there is something that is overriding that in our brains. I hope to get over this and past this, but it will take some work.
@ABIGAILLEE15 I seem to have the same issue. The only time I have been able to control the binge eating is taking some sort of prescribed weight loss med that was not only terrible for my health but extremely addicting. I have checked out a website that another spark member had suggested & they have some good advice. www.findingbalance.com I am waiting on some books to come in that I ordered on the subject. I am def still a binge eater looking for a cure so please if you come across something helpful send it my way.
Binge eating is an eating disorder and you can research it on the Internet. What I find interesting is that you do well during the week but have difficulties on weekends. Are your weekends less structured? Do you watch more TV on Friday and Saturday evenings? Track your activities and you may become aware of your triggers. Also, there are groups that can provide support such as Overeaters Anonymous or talk to your doctor to see if there is a local support group that can help you. You don't have to suffer in silence. Open up to your family; they are worried about you and with reason. They cannot support you if you don't let them. Just make sure they understand that you need support not surveillance. Good luck.

Im no dr but if you hiding it then that may be a problem and maybe you need to seek professional advice about that

Last year I lost 20lbs. But recently I have just gained 10lbs back from weekend binge eating. I eat super healthy during the week and try not to deprive myself. If I crave chocolate, I eat a few squares of dark chocolate. If I'm craving something salty/nutty, I spread a little bit of peanut butter on whole wheat toast. I increased my calorie intake so it wasn't so drastic and even cut back on excessive exercising. My binge eating almost always occurs on Friday and Saturday nights, and I will consume an unhealthy amount of calories to the point where I feel sick to my stomach. My family is deeply concerned with me, and I have even tried hiding it. They think I am "all better."
I am in a rut because I refuse to go back to my old weight and I know binge eating is affecting my health in more than just weight gain.
Does anyone else have the same problem? What do you do to fix it? I'd appreciate anyone's advice!
