I use almond milk for 2 reasons:

Its lower cal and more healthy fat than regular skim milk, and because I think I might be allergic/intolerant to dairy, and cutting it out has seemed to help so far

It's pretty tasty once you get used to it...I find I have to limit myself to 1 cup per day, otherwise my grocery bill would skyrocket (it's about 2x the price of regular milk)

I ate bacon and eggs this morning. Not a gram of sugar in that, and good for me, too.

Kashi GoLean! The original, not the "crunch, " or "crisp," version, only has 6 grams of sugar. It's got a ton of protein for a cereal (13g) and lots of fiber, and is great by itself with skim milk, or with some fresh fruit thrown in.

how about natural peanut butter no sugar added with celery sticks to dip or whole wheat wrap

lunch or dinner foods (i love soup for breakfast)

Thank you everyone for your input! I will try the protein powder and switching out what I put in my smoothies! Is almond milk healthier for you than regular milk?

I usually have a coffee with vanilla flavoured proteinpowder instead of soymilk.
And I toss some oats, a spoon of flax seed and frozen berries with some water or soymilk into the microwave.
On the weekends my boyfriend and me love big fancy breakfasts, and later on limiting lunch to a snack..
Fancy breakfasts are: Spinach-tortilla, aspargus-salad, Salmon with homemade horseradish, roasted Parasol etc., etc. We really spoil ourselves on weekend breakfasts. This way I really learned to like breakfast and during the week itīs less hard to eat it.

I can second the idea of adding some protein powder - it may sound like bodybuilder stuff, but it can add some fill to your breakfast, and they even come in nice flavours nowadays!

Have you tried out the SparkPeople meal planner? I use their breakfasts most of the time. Usually just shy of 300 calories and keep me full for 3-4 hours. Some basic ones I get on mine are:

*milk, cereal, flax seed,blueberries, tea
*cheese, eggs, toast, tea, tangerines
*cream of wheat, peanut butter, milk, fruit
*yogurt, peach, tea, wheat bran muffin

I have noticed that when you change your caloric amount on the meal planner you get different meal plans, so yours may be different depending on your needs.

Why not continue making the smoothies without the bananas? I'm assuming they're the only fruit you've been asked to restrict?

I make smoothies with 1 cup frozen fruit (berries, pears, peaches etc), 1 cup almond milk, 100 cals nut butter or avocado. Makes a 3 cup smoothie after I add water to thin it out a little, at less than 300 cals, and keeps me full for at least 3 hours

If the fruit isn't sweet enough, or I added cocoa o help with a chocolate craving, I'll add a few drops of stevia for sweetness too.

That sounds like it was high in sugar but very filling..I too need some breakfast ideas. Scrambled eggs are getting old and they are not very filling. I will be watching this post closely. Thanks for posting!

You could try some whey protein powder in a smoothie to give you lasting protein and to change the taste of it if so many fruits aren't allowed.

I'd use chocolate powder, and then put in 1/4 cup of milk, a bunch of ice, plain/vanilla yogurt, and mix it up.

I used to make smoothies every morning with my husband, but I was making them with bananas, strawberries, yogurt and milk. My doctor thinks I may be insulin resistant and bananas have too high of a glycemic index. I love my blender and smoothies are so convenient. Any ideas on low sugar smoothies or other breakfasts that will keep me feeling full longer than an hour? Even a little too much high-sugar foods and I lose my energy a short time later.
