I have also found that the best time to workout is whenever you will actually do it! For me that is in the evening. To do it in the morning I would have to wake up at least an hour earlier than normal and I'm not very good at pushing myself to get out of bed until I absolutely have to. And my evenings aren't very busy right now...I'm sure this will all change in the future when I have children!

I try to get most of my workout in the morning. Slowly building until 1 can do a whole hour. right now I do half in the morning and half at lunch.

Some people, including myself, find it harder to do strength training first thing in the morning. The body seems to need a little more time to gear up for that.
I'm a big fan of splitting up workouts into multiple sessions per day, if one's schedule allows it. This more closely simulates how our lean ancestors lived before the tech age. It leaves you with more energy and less hunger. A number of studies show it burns slightly more fat, The only downside of course is the scheduling..

The best time to workout is the time that you'll actually do it. :) I'm NOT a morning person... but I know that if I wait until evening, the odds that I'll actually exercise as planned drops dramatically until it's nonexistent. So by getting up, getting the kids to school, and hitting the gym, I actually go ahead and do it because I'm up and ready.
PLus, it sets me up for a good start to the day. One healthy choice leads to another. ;)
What matters isn't when you work out (contrary to popular belief, you don't burn more calories on an empty stomach) but THAT you workout. :)

Thanks so much! I had been mostly working out in the evenings sine I workout at home and my husband works evening shift. That's usually the only time I can get a little me time. I know "most" people workout in the morning and I didn't know if it mattered. Thanks so much for your guys help!

The best time to work out is anytime. Do it whenever you have the time to focus and give it your all. But like the previous poster said, don't break it up, do it all at once.
