talk to your doctor and ask them if you're healthy enough to do yoga. My yoga instructor has scaitica. about half the students in a class I've taken have problems with sciatica. they've all told me the same thing i.e. that yoga has helped them manage their sciatic pain.

Have you ever taken yoga ? If you've never taken yoga, do NOT do a DVD. some poses can help and some can hurt. That's why it's important that you take a class with an instructor who understands how to teach a person with sciatica. a good instructor can teach you pose modification.

I would consider taking a good yoga class, but once again, with doctor's approval.

I agree with the other poster that if this has been an ongoing issue and you haven't had it checked out, your best bet is to start by discussing the pain with your doctor.

That is probably something you should consult your physician about because if you do something inappropriate you could injure yourself.
