TOTHESUN- Thank you so much for the explanation--that makes sense! It's amazing how the aeration affects the calorie count. Thanks for the insight :)

Ben & Jerry's is "superpremium" ice cream. It's hardly aerated at all, and indeed is much fattier than most ice creams, hence the calories. I myself struggle with the seemingly small size of the pint. I'm pretty proud of myself if I manage to eat it in two sittings instead of just one.
They do sell smaller servings of select flavors, and then there is the frozen yogurt and greek yogurt. Not as much variety of flavors in these types, though. They also sell sorbet. I'm not sure about the calories in the sorbets, but they are full of sugar.
Five years and twenty pounds ago, I used to work in BJ's scoop shops. This involved being required to taste every flavor so I could describe it to customers. Ah, to be young again! But for me, the novelty of the flavors has kind of dissipated, especially as my favorites (Imagine Whirled Peace and Cookies & Cream) seem to have cycled out of production.
I wonder why Ben and Jerry's is SO much more caloric than other brands? I mean, I guess they must use more cream/milkfat than others. But the fact that they're DOUBLE many other tasty ice creams kinda intrigues me. Guess it's why it's sooooo good! :)

Here in Canada we cannot get all the Ben & Jerry's flavours, but my faves are Triple Caramel Hat Trick and Scotchy Scotch Scotch. I haven't had any since the summer, and probably won't have any until things warm up some, but I sure do like thinking about it!

I love ice cream and for that reason, I can't keep it in the house. Yeah, that pint of any brand is 1 serving, right? (I know it's 4.) I caught yesterday that B&J is coming out with some new flavors that have a ribbon of something (salted caramel, fudge, or raspberry jam) splitting, in 4 of 5 cases, 2 different flavors. I can't wait to try it...IN MODERATION.
Honestly, I usually try and save ice cream for the days that I run a long distance race (10 or 13.1 miles) I do not use the high calorie burn to earn the treat but it makes it a little easier to fit it into my daily calorie budget.

I have zero interest in ice cream anymore. I don't think I'd touch a tub of Ben and Jerry's if you shoved it right in my face. It's bizarre.

chunky monkey is the bomb. bnj's is good, but dont eat it much. for a while, the mini size of their greek yogurt flavor banana and peanut butter was available at our grocerry store. 200 cals. Worth it.
I have it once in a blue moon- but really, I'd rather have a different, lower-calorie ice cream. There are a lot of ice creams, even with added stuff like caramel or chocolate, that are around 140 calories per half cup, about half of what most of the Ben and Jerry's are! It's just really hard for me to eat only 1/4 of that container :)
I like B&J's, but I refuse to buy it. I will on a rare occasion buy one of the tiny single serves. Usually, the 200 calories in 1/2 a cup will dissuade me. I'd rather have some good dark chocolate.

I love Ben and Jerry's but the price kills me. Also, buying regular size ice cream instead of a pint, I'm less likely to sit with it and eat it all. I will measure out 1/2 cup and have only that.
They talked about updating the nutrition facts panel on TV this morning and mentioned that Ben and Jerry's label is changing to show 2 servings/container instead of 4, because most people don't eat just 1/4 the container.

We got a pint of Scotchy Scotch Scotch the other day. It is good. We have small bowls that we use with such things. So, we can actually get 4 servings out of a pint. You wouldn't think that it would be enough, but it is.

Haagen Daz is my downfall. I tell myself that I will only eat a serving and then put it away. Before I know it the spoon is hitting the bottom of the carton.
So I have to look at the Haagen Daz and other premium ice cream longingly and just walk away. I can turn it down in the grocery store, but it is hard when it is in my freezer.
Does Ben and Jerry's make single serving containers?
Eat what you like and if someone comments, eat them too
I have been craving ice cream. Specifically, high-quality vanilla drizzled with warm caramel sauce and a little whipped cream, sprinkled with a few salty chopped almonds. The maraschino cherry on top is optional, but for maximum visual appeal, it should be there too. Sigh. I gave up all my other vices, can't I even have a bowl of ice cream without guilt? NO thank you. Too much junk in it, and I'm not fond of most of the flavors.
