Everyone is different. For me, I find that eliminating gluten/wheat and to some extent, dairy, makes a huge difference in my belly bloat, my cravings, my energy level, and how I feel in general. I can tolerate some cheese and yogurt but am intolerant of milk. As I said, everyone is different, so you will simply have to experiment with certain foods and see how you feel.

If you can't stay away from certain foods, it doesn't matter about which "plan" you are on, it isn't going to work in the end. Elimination won't last forever, is the problem with it.

Lose all the weight and the belly fat will come off. Where you hold your fat is mostly hereditary.
Personally I get very bloated from wheat/gluten. I have also noticed a positive difference in both my skin and bloating when I cut out lactose and casein. I still eat butter and heavy cream which contain a small amount of both but they don't seem to cause me the same troubles.
As for exercise, running and sprints in particular seems to slim my waist in a way biking, weight training or even plyometrics just cant seem to do. I'm not sure why.

I read an article recently about a chemical in belly fat some researcher just discoveried that is less in fat elsewhere on the body. The discovery is new and a lot more research is needed for them to put it to any practical use.

It is a myth. You cannot spot reduce. In order to lose fat from your belly, you need to lose body fat overall.

Interesting thread. I must look more into this topic.
Personally, I believe that there are some foods that target fat and help with water weight gain. However, I have not hear of foods that specifically target belly fat.

I think it is a myth and if you over eat anything it will cause belly fat
I think anything that is high on the glycemic chart, has trans-fats (or hydrogenated oil), highly- processed/nutritionally low, and inflammatory foods...all contribute to the bad belly fat after a certain age. So eat veggies, fruits, lean protein, healthy nuts/oils, and watch your starch carbs (stick to whole grains) ...and within your calorie range...and it's all good.
Me? I think it's a myth, but am always open to sensible suggestions!

Do you mean one that keeps popping up as an ad? I think I clicked on that once and it seemed to take for ever to get to the point and then wanted lots of money! I might be mistaken - there might be a more plausible list out there that has passed me by.
