ha! every time I walk my belly dances.... not as much as it used to thank heavens......

I am excited to try after work today. I saved 4 videos from YouTube that the dancers broke down each step wonderfully and looks like it will be fun and somewhat easy to learn the basic moves. AND based on my previous post of other exercises SO hard to do right now as my upper body gets 'squished' and I can't breath at all trying to do some pilates and yoga poses. Belly dancing should be a DO for me since your not bent over compressing the abdomen. :-)

As a belly dancer, I can tell you that it's great low-impact cardio.

However, the biggest benefit is the conditioning. Most classes have at least 20 minutes for ST and then drills, drills, drills.

It's great for your body and it's really not hard (or hard on you!)

Your happiness is up to you. Whatever happened in your life to make you who you are up until the point you realize this is irrelevant. It is your responsibility now to take control and change your life to be what you want it to be.

Energy and persistence conquer all things. Make time, not excuses.

Any kind of exercise that you'll do and is fun is a good workout. :) It doesn't really matter what you do, only that you do it, and stick with it. Belly dancing can be a lot of fun (although it doesn't spot reduce, of course.)

It's a good, low-impact workout! Great for variety.

I got sucked into the world of YouTube last night and came across belly dancing as a workout videos. So I am curious, anyone ever try that for exercise? Seems like it would be VERY beneficial. Opinions???
