Hi,
You may have to cultivate a taste for beets. Not a strong veggie, but when doctored up they are a good compliment to a meal

I just asked my mom for a jar of canned picked beets two days ago. Thought I would test it out, not sure but willing to try.

emoticon I LOVE beets! And there are so many new varieties these days, too. It's great fun going to the farmer's market in the summer to find & try new beets.

My mom makes an awesome beet salad using vinegar, oil, sweet onions, sugar, and S&P. It's delicious!

Have also heard you can eat them raw, has anyone tried them like this!?

I love putting beets on my salad. As a little girl, I helped my mother can beets. I love beets.

I love beets plain or in a salad, unfortunalely I'm the only one in the family that likes them so usually eat them when eating out. That candied beet salad does sound good.

Beets I can't stand them for me it's not a veggie that I can eat.

Glad everyone else likes them though they're very nutricious.

emoticon emoticon I love them pickled and then sliced onto my salad. I love them plain. I love fresh from the garden beets grated and sauted in just the hint of butter. I never had borst. I will have to try to make it. I am sure to love it.

Oh my God, I love pickled eggs! Must have vinegar in the beet juice and I add splenda for a little sweetness.

I have been making this a must in my salad purchases. They are the best but can make a salad look a little gross but the taste off shoots what anyone else might think. I love me some Beets!!!!

I have a garden full of beets from August through January (they don't die in the light snow we get in Pacific NW.) My husband loves them and I do not care for them. Still looking for a way to eat them that I like. Glad to have some ideas here to try: roasted, pan-fried....

Oh pickeled beets and hard boiled eggs, what wonderful memories of my grandmother and her sisters. Think I'll be making a batch tomorrow. Sunny, thank you for sharing how you cook fresh beets, I had some in my hands at the store this moring and put them down because I wasn't sure how to cook them. They'll be on my list for next time.

I have yet to find a way that beets are prepared that I don't like. But I have gotten so most times when I cook them I just roast them. All you do is scrub them, cut off the tops , which I cook for another time, rub a little bit of olive oil on them then sprinkle with a little salt ,pepper and garlic powder. Put in an oven at 400 and bake till tender. Peel them and eat. Absolutely Yummy. I do extra and use in salad .

Pickled beets are great but I prefer them with a little butter and salt. Can really appreciate their delicate flavor. Also a beautiful row in the garden.

I always have them in my refigerator. I use sweetner and a cinnamon stick. I try to have one or two every day. Eggs and vinegar also keep your blood sugar down. I drink a little of the juice each time.

I am Russian, so I loooove beets! Of course, in the traditional cookbooks, lots of beet recipes are not very healthy (think sour cream, mayo, and pickled herring.) But I do love the borscht (beet soup) and beet salad. My favorite beet salad (and I know it's going to sound weird to American palate but it's goooood!) has prunes and walnuts in it. Also, let's not forget beet greens that are great for braising!

My doctor turned me on to them as I am close to being anemic; low blood sugar. I don't eat red meat, beef nor pork so this was another way to increase my blood sugar! They are quite good however you eat them! Even sweet which I thought was interested, thanx! Still, don't eat them enough and keep a can in the cupboard! emoticon

I love them best pickled. I pickle and can my own, then when I open a jar, I make pickled red beet eggs. I eat them just cooked once in awhile, but pickled is my pick.
