Hi there i am 69 years old.If your insurance will help with the Y it also helps with Curves. i loved that and I only gave it up when they closed my Curves and the other one was 20 miles away. i did not want to go so far. If you look around thrift stores you can find DVD's that you can walk with at home I use Leslie Sansonne. and i love it. We have a foot of snow outside so I will walk for an hour with Leslie Sansonne. If you are feeling depressed you might consider talking to a Dr and get some antidepressants. I find when I exercise I feel so much better . Go for it. Set up your tracker for your nutrition and start to walk outside or in place for 5 minutes and add 5 more when you feel like it. Try to get up to 30 minutes and stay there for a while then try to do even more. You can do it and it will do you good. Pat in Maine.

Welcome! I am so glad you are back! You are definitely worth taking care of yourself, and I know the Y has some great programs, and I think you will be surprised how welcome you will be. Also, here on SparkPeople is a great team with some amazing people that deal with depression, and I think you will really like it. Here is the link to that team, and know you are worthy of happiness!

I joined a long time ago but never came back after that. I am 63, have no friends and am overweight and depressed. Had enough already?? I live in the country and there is no one my age anywhere close to me and nowhere to walk, ride a bike etc. I have told myself that come 1/2/13 I am going to the YMCA (20+ miles away) since I have a free membership through my insurance. I am hoping that doing that will be three-fold, help with my depression, help meet people and of course lose weight. I am really afraid that I won't follow through as I am so withdrawn and live so far away that I will give up after the first day or so. Can't afford to buy exercise equip. for at home plus I for sure would not use it as I need serious pushing.
Hoping that by signing on again someone will take pity on me and give me the push I need to get my life in order and my depression under control. I really don't want any more ECT's to snap me out of it.
