I just want to let you know I feel your pain! I work and work and eat well and lose weight, and it just WILL NOT come off my belly. Meanwhile the girls are looking like deflated balloons (TMI? Sorry!).
It's so frustrating! But everyone's right. You've got to get rid of fat all over. And I think most women are likely to lose it from the belly last of all. So you just have to keep plugging away, and stuffing socks in your bra . . .

You CANNOT spot reduce. You could do cardio and crunches all day but unless the diet changes, the belly will not change either.

Cardio, cardio and more cardio with some strength training mixed in but diet is very important as well.....it may take awhile depending on your age but you cannot target belly fat rather, you need to work on the whole body.
Agree with the posters below. But I will add, as women get post menopausal, it is harder to lose belly fat, so you want to get it off before your late 40s if possible

A calorie deficit from your maintenance calorie needs, ie: eating less and moving more to lose weight. You can't target fat loss, it comes off all over your body as you reduce your overall body fat percentage. If you're a pear, you'll probably lose your belly first. If you're an apple, it will be the last to go...
Anyone who tells you that you can target belly fat is either misinformed or trying to sell you something.

There is no way to spot reduce the parts of your body you don't like. You can't choose where the weight will come off; this means that no amount of crunches will give you abs of steel! To get them, you have to strengthen the muscles, and then remove the fat from them top... to do that, you have to burn calories all over. Fat loss is a total body process. Your muscles draw their energy from the blood stream, not the surrounding fat stores.
