There's a ratio for diet vs exercise to lose weight. I think it's 20% exercise 80% diet. Keeping a food journal is crucial.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

I guess this means I need to take my diet way more seriously!

I also have very mild fatty liver and so I'm going on a very low fat diet, so that should help out with the toning.

You must listen to your body and do what feels right for you. Start out slow. There's nothing worse then doing too much and then having to take some days off to recuperate. You'll feel like all of that hard work was futile. As you get stronger challenge yourself to more exercise. Eat healthy and track everything. You will lose weight.

Exercise might help you lose weight (and generally feel better) but your diet must go along with it. You absolutely MUST consult with your doctor about how much exercise and if you have any dietary guidelines.

Losing weight and healthy living actually focuses 80% on nutrition and 20% exercise. Basically, you can't out exercise a crappy diet. So, you could work out 24/7/365 and not lose an ounce if your food choices are lousy.

Thus said, there are studies out there stating that 150 of moderate exercise (30 minutes 5 days a week) is sufficient to provide health benefits. You should get at least 1 rest day a week to allow your body time to rejuvenate. And you should be getting your heart rate into the cardio zone 60% to 85% of maximum and don't overlook strength. Lean muscle looks nicer than flab and burns more calories than fat.

Also, you mentioned in your title about auto immune disease. However, you made no mention of what it is in your actual post. Please get medical clearance from your doctor to proceed with exercise to ensure you are doing things that will benefit you and not cause further harm.

Will working out 3 times a week or 5 times a week help me lose weight?

I'm a beginner so will working out everyday be too much?
