I have some in my drawer at work if I ever forgot my lunch....however, I have not had any since I bought them. Honestly, I don't like the taste and I would rather eat my food instead of drink it.....so they don't really work for me. emoticon

I used SlimFast once as a meal on the go, but prefer to make my own smoothies because I'm trying to stay away from artificial sweeteners and processed foods.

Thank you for the wonderful response and input to this post, It's not that I don't know how to eat healthy. The problem is I'm an emotional over eater of even the healthy food, so I felt slim fast would be a wonderful jump start to my weight loss and reigning in my tendency to over eat.

And it has worked for me I've lost 8.9 lbs in 12 days I replaced 2 meals with shakes that I would blend with a banana or peanut butter measured out, my main meal of the day would be baked chicken breast and broccoli, my snacks were fruit, almonds or veggies I drank plenty of water, tea and black coffee, and I didn't stick to the 1200 calories slim fast suggested because I was keeping in mind the calorie range spark people gave me which was up to 1500 calories and truthfully I would eat up to 1650 calories, but I walked at least every other day for exercise burning off what I could. And I also finished dinner 2-3 hours before bed time. And to keep my self from unnecessary snacking I would chew sugar free gum.

today would have been day 13 but I gave it a break today to see how I would do back on all regular food and I did wonderfully. I had a couple eggs, cheese for breakfast with 1 slice of toast and a skim latte, dinner cat fish, slice of whole wheat bread, broccoli and a skim latte, snack non fat milk, banana, almonds and I didn't have lunch because I was overly busy so I just had a snack and an early dinner. My calories for today didn't log in at more than 1500 so I felt I did well keeping my calories under control without slim fast.

Slim fast and spark people work for me, I will still be using slim fast at least until I run out of the two cans I have. Then I will re evaluate if I should buy more. I would love to learn how to make my own fresh shakes/smoothies because I know that's the much healthier way, but also more time consuming when it comes to grabbing something for when I'm on the go.

I will also look into the other mix in powders that were mentioned here. You never know maybe there's a better mix.

Either way slim fast works, people may feel it doesn't teach you how to eat healthy. But I feel it can teach you how to eat less and reign in a over zealous appetite and if you can stick to just drinking slim fast and one meal and a couple snacks, we can stick with spark people and get the pounds off and that is my ultimate goal.

Thanks again everyone emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Those ingredients is what I mean, Herbalife was fined for having arsenic and something like the stuff that was put in baby formula to make it thicker, and was banned several years ago, in their shake mixes, plus the company is a Pyramid scheme company, too. Anyway, I still remember Metrical from the late 1950's, early 1960's, awful stuff, but, you only had 250 calories per "meal", so naturally, a person lost weight on that. Anyone with a chronic illness had best not use those.

I've also done the Almased shakes and they seem to be good. But now I'm wondering.... do love the all natural smoothies with veggies and fruit though.

Keep in mind, some of these famous shake brands have been checked out in labs, and they have some chemical compounds in them that are dangerous, the companies have been fined and are not allowed to sell in some states, but you can still get them online. The big "A" brand is one of them.

Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I don't trust a processed powder. I don't trust the commercial companies.

I couldn't imagine replacing 2 meals a day with a shake, I love my food too much! LOL But I have been known to do a smoothie or something similar for a breakfast on the go. That way, I know that everything that is going in it and it's much more balanced because I use fruits, veggies, and greek yogurt plus what ever add ins I have on hand. Is something like that an option? And then maybe just do a light meal for lunch and a normal dinner? It just seems like it would be hard to stick to long term and would get boring real fast.

I think the plan itself benefits some people. I would encourage using all natural shakes/smoothies in place of the synthetic. Way healthier and way cheaper.

I Iose weight on slim fast, only because it tastes so bad, I never finish the whole can, but you lose weight if you want to fit into some type of clothing quickly.................after that, go back to eating real food. Your digestive movements will thank you. Think lifetime.

I have used Slim Fast when I'm lacking for time. My son introduced me to Elite Gourmet made by Dymatize Nutrition and I got the Swiss Chocolate. I mix it in a Blendy Bottle and have that mainly for breakfast every other day. I don't use it as a replacement for lunch or dinner. I want to have a "real food" for those 2 meals. It's very tasty and satisfying for me. Keeps me full and I don't feel hungry an hour after I've had it.

I agree with Jamir, it's not a great program. It's useful as an occasional choice when pressed for time or trying to change eating patterns. I used Ensure as well . . which is great because it doesn't spoil without refrigeration. I kept a bottle or two in the cab of my work truck for incredibly long days when I would have no appetite or had terrible gas station choices for food.

I occasionally have used Slimfast or Ensure or something like that as a back up when I'm pressed for time, too tired and just need to get something in me before going to bed, etc. I usually go for a bar over liquid for meal replacement.

I don't find that type of meal replacement to be sustainable, for me, and I'll agree with other critics that it doesn't teach you how to make good choices, but I don't see anything wrong with using it to help you transition to a healthier lifestyle or as an occasional item. There's no way I could maintain my 100+lbs loss or have stuck with a healthier lifestyle using the shakes as recommended.

Thank you Woodsychick good to know it worked for you as well, I've read lots of rev emoticon emoticon emoticon iews online regarding slim fast. I was surprised lots of people use it to supplement their nutrition intake and weren't necessarily using it for weight loss, but felt it was a good product for one reason or another.

Thanks for your input keep up the great work :o) emoticon

I have used it before. I found it a great option as a breakfast replacement as I never used to have an appetite in the morning and it actually tastes better than Carnation Instant Breakfast. I didn't replace 2 meals as it suggested to lose weight, but it helped me because I wasn't in a starved, manic eating mode at lunchtime and made better choices instead of putting my eatin' dress on.

Are you using slim fast or any type of meal replacement? If so how is it working for you? and how much weight have you lost? I've lost 12 lbs replacing 2 meals a day. Thanks for sharing. emoticon
