My husband runs his own business (sole proprietorship). I am the bread winner. I am trying to bank as much as I can so we at least have 6 months worth of money to pay bills. I work for the Feds under the new retirement so I pay into Social Security. I have 18 years to go and don't think it will be around for me either.

No, I just pay in the max amount each year. I dont expect it to be around by the time I retire.
