I don't believe in drinking just to meet some arbitrary quota. I think it's the silliest fad ever. I just continue to do what thousands of generations of our ancestors have always done - drink when thirsty. Period.

I average 5-6 cups a day. At 5'2" and under 120 pounds, I believe I am properly hydrated (based on urine colour) with that amount. I drink 3 cups in the morning and 3 in the evening. Very very rarely (on very hot days) I drink 8+ cups.
When I first began to track my water intake, I found it difficult to drink all eight cups of water. My first strategy was to drink all eight cups in the morning since I exercise then and donīt have many interruptions till kids get back from school. But, I learned that water should be drunk throughout the day. So I still drink at least 5 cups from morning to noon (I get up at six and drink one cup before preparing breakfast) then I space the last three in the afternoon. Also, on a hot day I might add lemon drops to a couple to be a refreshing alternative. What do you do?
