Thanks, I'm going to look for this, maybe youtube cause I've got one of those cheap 4' x 15' pools and have been wondering how to get more exercise while I'm in there! plus I've got something going on with my heel too!

I tried aqua zumba (or water zumba) last night, for the first time. Boy, was it a great workout! I've had to stop doing any exercise that puts impact on my heel, due to a spur; so the doctor suggested swimming. I have taken up his suggestion, and I'm starting to swim laps; but on top of this, I'm now hooked on the aqua zumba! It's basically like regular zumba -- but in the pool. My local fitness club (Lifetime) offers a group class. I love how you basically don't pound on the pavement, as you do with running. I also love how the water creates a lot of resistance. By the end of the day, I could really feel my core, glutes, quads, calves, and even my back muscles. No pain -- but I could definitely feel that they got a workout. No joint pain, either. I understand that if you do the aqua zumba, with moderate intensity, you're burning about 400 calories per hour. So, if you're looking for a fun and relatively low impact workout in the water without hurting your joints, I highly encourage that you try aqua zumba!

Oh -- and don't worry about whether you have a bikini bod or not -- NOBODY is checking out anybody. On top of that, 99.9% of everybody at the pool is there to have fun or to get fit. So, if you're self-conscious about how you look in a bathing suit, please don't be discouraged. It's just terrific that you're taking time out of your day to exercise -- and that is all that matters!
