My nineteen year old daughter, who works out in a gym and is in shape, does insanity. All I can say is that it looks intense and when she is done with the workout, she is drenched in sweat. Hopefully someday, I'll be able to do it with her. My advice to you is to check with your doctor and if he/she approves, do it at your own pace.

Yes, and I loved it! It's really intense!

Insanity is definitely not for a beginner. I participated in a 6 week Inanity class at my gym. I wasn't able to participate it the previous session due to my schedule. The warm up, as you discovered, was intense. The instructor had someone leave after the first warm up and request a refund because it was that TOUGH.

This doesn't mean you'll never be able to do it. I encourage you to get a firness routine going and then try it out. The previous posters gave some great ideas. SP has some great free videos too.

Side note: Just because Dr. Oz peddles something doesn't mean it's good. Insanity is a great fitness concept. It just has it's audience as indicated by my 1st paragraph.

I agree! Do not try the Insanity videos as a beginner, you could get hurt!
I work out 6 hours a week and have for over a year now and I can't do the Insanity workouts.
Try some of the videos Eelpie suggested or search for beginner workouts.

Trying to do too much too fast will just cause you to burn out on exercise because you wont feel successful. Save the Insanity for when you are able to do the moderate level on line videos.

BTW...congrats on starting a new exercise program!

If you've never really worked out, something named Insanity is probably not gonna work out too good for you. Not just yet.

Listen - every single workout style is for free on youtube. Why not start with something a bit more moderate like Denise Austin - or even in home walking?

Here's a good Denise Austin:

Here is a beginner low impact cardo:

Here is beginner yoga:

Here is a 1 mile in home walk (perfect for beginners)

I just got mine in the mail today.

I've never worked out a day in my life, not really anyway, and I looked up the most effective program and this just kept coming up, and dr. Oz did it live and everything so I was sold, that day I bought it ready for the challenge... Or so I thought.

I like to know what I have ahead of myself so I sat down and started watching all the videos, just doing the stretching parts because i was only just watching them and my god, I couldn't even do the stretching!!!

Anyone ever try it. I could use some input!
