I too wish I was employed but with so many able-bodied unemployed fresh IT grads (in other words, direct competition), I think no one wants someone who can only work part-time and is chronically ill, like me.

I would really love a job to hate. As I joined the ranks of the unemployed so long ago it seems not much has changed. I can't even get an interview. I would consider a job a blessing. I too keep praying for a job to come my way.

Depressed cause I wish I had a job to hate. I still don't know what I want to do with my life... or would you say, when I grow up... I know that I just became fat....

I HATE my job, I am under paid for working my hinny off and get no respect or appreciation.
I also live pay check to pay check trying to care for a family of five on my crappy pay. Needless to say I'm under sever stress and get very depressed all the time because I am not even making it by.
I have taken initiative and I have gone back to school and I'm going to try and find a better paying job that treats me with the respect I deserve!

I always basically loved my job in the medical field. Of course there is always some aspect of your job that you really don't like, but do it anyway. Now that I'm retired, I get the jobs I like the least out of the way first. That way I can't procrastinate doing them until they just don't get done because I've run out of time!
I wish I had a job to hate. I've lived here for a year now and have yet to find a job. Our family is really struggling and it sucks! I pray everyday that God will continue to provide and open a door of opportunity for me. There are so many people out of work right now. People should be so lucky that they have a job even if they do hate it.

Speaking as someone who was laid off for nearly ten months, I am THRILLED to be working again.
I understand what it's like to work in a dead end, minimum wage job. It definitely stinks. However, you can do something about it. Start circulating your resume. check your local craigslist for job postings and definitely check this website.
This is where I found my current position, which I love !
You're quite correct. You don't want to quit a job that's helping to pay the bills. But, it doesn't hurt to put out your resume. It's better to have a job when you're looking for a new one. These days, most companies don't discriminate if you've been laid off. keep in mind that a lot of companies do not like people who up and quit. It makes them wonder if you'll up and quit on them. So, don't quit.
Instead, get your resume out there. Start looking for a better job if you don't like this one. Also, don't alienate your manager. You may need that person as a reference when you do start interviewing. don't burn your bridges just yet, but do be proactive.

I love my job as a health worker but I hate what people do to their bodies and the results of misery they cause to themselfs with own choices especially younger people.. If I walk in the door looking like a storm cloud, this attitude is catchy and clients are cranky and sour but the door swings both ways if I try the other approach with a smile and positive attitude many people I visit have a better start to their day..
Many times people are not angry at me, but are stressed at their own inability to handle a situation, it is especially tough for elderly to deal with they can't do what they used to do and sometimes for their children to accept they have just gotten plain old..

Can you change jobs? Nobody can ever really afford to quit their job without a plan, whether it's because one needs to pay for college, or for rent and food, or for supporting a family. But people change jobs all the time. Ask around your friends & family. Maybe there is a similar job for a similar amount of money with different people who will not treat you like crap!

I am not trying to be snarky but if you're planning to attend college it would be to your benefit to know the difference between 'there' and 'their.'
And yes, many of us hate our jobs at least part of the time; if you can say you like it more than you hate it you're doing pretty well. It's really a shame that higher education has become SO expensive; it's tough to work enough to pay tuition and still have time to study.
