I've done BFL and really like the workouts and have had good luck with it---though not as dramatic as the pics in the book!
The BFL food plan didn't work with my way of eating so I modified it.

If you don't check into SP as regularly as you'd like, instead of creating your own Spark Team, you might be interested in joining a great team to learn more about strength training. I suggest joining SERGEANTMAJORs resistance band team.
Bill Phillips Body for Life is a terrific beginner strength training book that we both highly recommend. I don't do the nutrition program, but I have done the workouts. He emphasizes the basics and good form. That's important when working with weights.
