I make Chef Meg's vegetable soup without the meat and with kidney beans, and without the pasta. It feeds a crowd and we all love it. I also make chili, butternut squash soup, and recipes from Spark People, usually without meat (I am not vegetarian but beans fill me up better).
I have been putting chicken in my crockpot frozen for years. Comes out perfect everytime !!
1 pound boneless skinless chicken breast or thighs 1 small bottle Sweet Baby Rays honey BBQ sauce 1 heaping tablespoon yellow mustard
Place chicken on bottom of crockpot Mix bbq sauce and mustard and pour over chicken Cook on low 6 hours
1 pound boneless skinless chicken breast or thighs 1 jar Classico tomato basil sauce or your favorite pasta sauce 2 cloves garlic minced 1 green pepper sliced 1 onion sliced 1 heaping tablespoon basil
Place chicken on bottom of crockpot Add veggies on top Mix basil into sauce then pour sauce on top of veggies Cook 6 hours on low

I have this in my crockpot now. Salsa chicken. My DIL made it for me and it is great. She added a small can of green chiles and a can of Mexican corn. Can't wait to have it. I like the leftovers on top of salad for a quick lunch the next day.

Uhhh, good question. I just eyeball it so... Maybe like for 2 chops- 1.5 c apple juice, 1 apple, 1 small onion, 1T apple cider vinegar, and time... say like 4 hours? at maybe around 300ish? If there isn't enough liquid to cover the chops you can either add more juice or flip them. They will be sooo tender!

Fanny, Now for a beginner cook - about how much of each? and how long can I expect it to take before a meat thermometer says it is done?

I make pork ribs or pork chops in the slow cooker with onions and apple juice, and apple cider vinegar, and just for funsies throw some chopped apples in there as well.

I have a couple really good slow cooker recipes that I will post when I look them up (Ginger Pot Roast, Basil Chicken) but I'm looking for some variety. What's your favorite?
Basil Chicken Crock Pot Cards Ingredients 1 lb baby carrots 2 medium onions, sliced 2 cups celery slices and leaves 3 lb chicken 1/2 cup chicken broth 2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp black pepper 1 tsp dried basil
Preparation 1. Place carrots, onions, and celery in bottom of slow cooker. 2. Add chicken. 3. Pour broth over chicken. 4. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and basil. 5. Cover. Cook on Low 7-10 hours, or until chicken and vegetables are tender.
Ginger Pot Roast Crock Pot Cards Ingredients 3 lb beef roast 1/2 cup flour 1 envelope dry onion soup mix 1 envelope dry gravy mix 2 cups ginger ale
Preparation 1. coat the roast with flour. reserve any flour that doesn't stick to the roast. 2. place the roast in your slow cooker. 3. combine the dry soup mix, gravy soup mix, remaining flour, and ginger ale in a bowl. mix well. 4. pour sauce over the roast 5. cover and cook on low 3-4 hours, or until the roast is tender.
suggestions: add carrots, onions, potatoes suggestions: serve with mashed potatoes or rice.
