I managed to squeeze in about a half hour of strength-training last night after mowing the grass. It's not much, but that was better than nothing. I'm hoping the stormy weather will hold off for a couple of hours after work so I can take my girls for a walk around the garden center. Tomorrow is grocery day. Same as every grocery day, I'm going to make myself the promise that I won't bring home any fatty, unhealthy snacks.
I made it to Water Zumba last night. It wasn't quite what I was hoping for. Don't get me wrong: it was okay. It was just more like strength-training than cardio. My muscles felt a little fatigued afterwards, but my heart rate didn't really climb all that high during the workout. I may just have to stick to regular Zumba, but just tone down the jumps and twists so I get good cardio without damaging my knee further.
On another note, I've lost one whole pound in the last few weeks. Oh well. Losing one is better than gaining one.
What can I say about Mondays? They sure make we wish for Fridays
I hurt my foot and my knee, so instead of regular Zumba, tonight I intend to take a Water Zumba class. I haven't tried that one before. I'm told that it's just like Zumba, but easier on the body. I'm hoping I still get a good cardio workout, without further damaging my body.
I finally made it back out to the gym for a much-needed Zumba class last night. It was refreshing. I do so much strength training at home, so it's nice to get out for a some cardio. I think I might try to hit Zumba again tonight. After the Zumba class is a Cardio Boot Camp class, and I'm interested to see what that is. I may hang around after Zumba and watch the boot camp class for a while. Who knows? I might even try that class next week.

Keep at it and take one day at a time. Life does get in the way quite frequently when trying to live a healthy life, but you can do it. Work with small managable goals and don't get stressed when you mess up. It's all a part of life. Just try to keep the good days ahead of the bad! You'll do it!
I had a wonderful, relaxing evening with my kids yesterday. I didn't really get to accomplish too much by way of exercise, but sometimes I just need a little down-time with my girls. It was definately something I should've done. I feel completely refreshed and ready to tackle the day!
Okay, so this is why it is sooo hard to accomplish my goals: I just discovered yesterday afternoon that it was my father-in-law's birthday, so I picked up a red velvet cake and met the family at his house. I stayed there and visited with him for a while, then had to go home and fix my kids dinner before it got too late. So, once again, no gym. I did manage to get a strengh-training workout in at home, and I mowed my grass. But I am completely missing my Zumba Soooooo, I will try again tonight, I suppose. **Sigh**
Okay, so I didn't get to hit the gym for Zumba yesterday. My car had to make an urgent trip to the mechanic shop instead, so I was stuck at home. I still got some exercise in though! It was a warm day, mid 80's, so I went outside with the kiddos to get some yard work done. I weeded out my entire back yard by hand, chased the kids around a little, and managed to cut down a fairly large weed-tree growing between my fence and the neighbor's. I was out there a total of about 1 1/2 hours, working the entire time. I have my car back, so my goal again today is to get to the gym for Zumba, and to weigh in. It's been a while since I've weighed in.
I did manage to stay on track yesterday. But then again, I usually can on work days. I had a healthy breakfast and lunch, followed by a "normal" dinner with my family. I got in a nice strength-training workout during the afternoon. My goal today is to hit the gym for a Zumba class, and maybe a mile on the treadmill too. I'm happy to say that after months of working with light weights, I am really noticing a difference in my back, arms, chest AND shoulders!
What a weekend it was. I totally blew my goals. Then again, I knew I would. Sunday was my daughter's 2nd birthday party. I always hand-make her cakes. I spent my day Saturday baking cakes. I also hand-make the icing. It is a super yummy, but oh so unhealthy Royal Icing. I managed to skip licking the bowl of cake batter but had to repeatedly try the icing to make sure it was sweet enough . So there went my healthy living for Saturday. I planned on skipping the cake and ice cream on Sunday, but somehow I forgot about that plan when it came time to cut the cake. So there went my healthy living for Sunday as well.
I always seem to "fall off the wagon" on the weekends. It's easy to stay on track when I'm at work. I just bring a healthy lunch and healthy snacks with me. But when I'm home all day on the weekend, I can't seem to muster the will-power to avoid the bad stuff.
Good thing it's Monday, and I can jump back on track with my healthy living goals.
