working should make you break a sweat. Finding something that you like helps too. Remember that working out is only 10% of the plan. 80% is about what you eat and the other 10% is genetics. Sounds like you are doing the right things. Keep up the good work.

My first thought is to make sure you do something you like! For me 30-60 minutes of cardio 3-4 days a week and weight training 2 days each for an hour seems to be the magic ticket.

Hi, I'm Shirley & am 53 & have been serious about losing weight since January. I have type 2 diabetes & want to prevent future complications, & of course get healthier. I have lost 14lbs so far & need to lose about another 86 but have plateaued & am trying to re-invigorate my exercise routine in a bid to crank up my metabolism & weight loss. I have been doing zumba, kettlebell workout DVD's plus walking every day with the dog.
I have been searching on Spark to find out what I need to do to get an optimal balanced workout routine but can only find articles about separate types of training. Can anyone advise me what I should be doing, how long each workout should be, & how often I should do them? At the moment I am doing only what I think is right. I would like to be more certain that my workouts are giving me the best benefit. I have access to Zumba, Aerobic & Kettlenetics DVD's. I have a rowing machine & ski glider in the garage that I use intermittently. Any help would be gratefully received.
