It sounds like you've got it, eating less, eat balanced, watch out for the highly condensed calories (refined carbs) and move more. It didn't come on over night, so it takes time to come off. I too could lose weight in my 20s so much easier than now (late 50s). I'm just thankful that you've made the decision to lose weight which is one of the most important resistant factors for many diseases, which we do not want to have.

I am 66. It just seems to be harder to loose and easier to put it back on if I am not vigelent. I just got a spark brand "fit bit" and I am going to wear it 24/7 to figure out how many calories I am "really" burning. I also find eating out gives me lots of salt that seems to blow me up for a few days and I need to drink more to get the water to pass.
Just keep track of your food and exercise every day and don't assume. Also weighing only once a week works better for me.
