Yep, that's one way you can create an interval workout. There's lots of different ways to do it depending your fitness level, etc.

HIIT and Tabata are two forms of high intensity exercise. HIIT is just a more intense form of interval training. Here's an article about it if you're interested in reading more:

Thanks, Coach Jen. So, anaerobic is something high intensity, short duration and best to incorporate into aerobic/cardio workout instead of itself only.

If I combine both anaerobic and aerobic into a workout as interval training for example, I reckon something like thit:
(after warm up 5 minutes)
1-min fast jump rope
3-min elliptical medium speed
1-min fast jump rope
3-min elliptical medium speed
1-min fast jump rope
3-min elliptical medium speed
...

But what about HIIT and Tabata, are those a mix of Aerobic and Anaerobic, too? They are also interval training but higher intensity that normal interval training, right?

Anaerobic exercise can only be done for a few minutes at a time before it's too intense and you have to stop. So it's something you'd incorporate into a cardio workout, not something that would be it's own workout by itself. Interval training can be a good way to accomplish this goal.

You'll want to check your heart rate at various points during your workout, to see how hard you're working during the most intense parts, as your heart rate increases and decreases during the warm up and cool down, etc.

Hope that helps,

Coach Jen

Hi, could anyone advice about Aerobic and Anaerobic on
- how to do them properly?
- how to combine them in workout routine either in one session/day or different sessions/days to get the benefits (strengthen heart and lungs and also develop stronger muscles)?
- does warm up and cool down part of Aerobic and Anaerobic workouts?
- when do you check your heart rate - in the middle of the workout or by end of workout/cool down or after you stretches?

I read some articles in SparkPeople and other websites but I still need some tips on how to use the knowledge to help with my workouts.
