I think it depends on how much you drink in a certain time span. If you drink like 2 glasses in less than 20 mins it tends to go through you much faster. They usually advise you spread your water consumption out throughout the day to help keep you hydrated better and to avoid frequent visits to the restroom. I saw a water bottle once that actually had a timer on it to indicate when to drink the water. Pretty cool.

Because you are on a "water pill" please talk to your doctor to determine the amount of fluid you should be taking in daily. I assume this is a diuretic medication therefore your fluid intake recommendation may be different.

It can be daunting at first! I've gotten to the point, though, where my body craves it.
A lot of people who don't like the taste add crystal light or mio, I know crystal light is low calorie, I don't know anything about mio. Others add lemon/lime. It's all good.
I try to stop drinking water by 7 pm, or I'd be floating in my bed all night ;)
The best exercise in the world is to bend down and help someone up.

From what I understand, as your body gets used to drinking more water, you *won't* be running to the bathroom constantly, but there is a transition period.
Instead of adding sugary flavors for water, try just some straight lemon or lime juice for a kick of flavor. I find a squirt of lime juice in water makes me just want to guzzle it down :) You can even add some fresh orange, grapefruit, or slices of cucumber in your water for some great flavor alternatives.

I hear ya on the bathroom thing. I started a week ago and have been drinking 2 quarts to 1 gallon of water a day. The first day was unbearable but it got much better after that. In the last 3 days, I have not had to get up while sleeping. So hopefully our bodies get used to it.
As for the flavor, I do infused waters... adding fruit or herbs to enhance the flavors. My favorites so far are blackberry with lime and lemon with mint.

I am just going to jump right into this I am probably never going to be able to drink 8 glasses of water a day. I might come close if I flavor it with something like Crystal Light. But even if I come close I am constantly running to the restroom. During the day it's bearable but at night it interrupts my sleep. Oh yea did I mention that I take a water pill. Looks like a no win for me.
