Has anyone seen Evil Dead the Musical? It's totally campy and not at all like a horror movie. We were never scared and laughed through a lot of it. I got to see it in Toronto with it's original broadway cast. It was hilarious. They threw "blood" at the audience, but they also passed out ponchos for those of us in the first few rows.

Ave Q is a great show! I saw Book of Mormon on Broadway when it first opened, and that was an amazing show! Definitely one of my favorite soundtracks. Someone else mentioned Once which I saw in London last year. We loved it so much we wanted to go back the next day.
As far as old-school shows go, Guys and Dolls tops my list.
The wife and I keep talking about going to see Ave Q one day...

I have never seen Ave Q, but my favorite musicals to watch are Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. My favorite musicals to play pit for are Oklahoma!, Brigadoon and Bye, Bye birdie

The Lion King is an amazing show, staging wise, as well as musically. I have worked in professional and community theatre, and was probably the most impressed by the staging of that show. I was also able to see Little Women with Maureen McGovern as Marmee. That was a really great experience as well. I've seen Rent more times than I can count (did you know there's a "school-age" version of that as well now? it's so high schools can do it...similar to the school version of Grease). There are so many good musicals now. I do prefer musicals to straight shows. They're more engaging for me. I saw Elf last Christmas. That was a funny show. They made several jokes apply to us locally, including one about the university rivals University of Michigan and Ohio State University (I saw it in Detroit).

We have been lucky enough to see quite a few musicals. We've seen Rent, Ave Q, Sweeney Todd, a very strange Iliad (Off-Off-Off Broadway LOL), Wicked, Les Mis, Phantom of the Opera, My Fair Lady and Chicago.
We've been fortunate to get to go to NYC to see some shows and to the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles. The Pantages is gorgeous! I was kind of surprised at how worn down the Broadway theatres were. A lot of them were in the process of being renovated when we went.
Smaller productions (No big names) of Into the Woods, Fiddler on the Roof, Kiss Me Kate, How to succeed in Business and a bunch of others.
I could easily live without TV if I could go to a live performance once a week lol!

I've seen it several times. I was lucky enough to have a friend be one of the local musicians used on a touring production in his city. I went to stay with him and was able to meet most of the cast and see it several times. I'd already seen it once before that. The first time I saw it, about 1/3 of the audience left at intermission. I guess they hadn't done any research about it beforehand. There are lots of shows I love. I'm excited for the release of the soundtrack for If/Then. It's a musical with Idina Menzel and Anthony Rapp (whom I adore...he was in the OBC of RENT with Idina Menzel). It's going to be released in June I think. I have a lot of shows I like, with lots that I've only listened to, but never seen. I really want to see Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang onstage. I think they both would be good. Have you seen others?

Have you seen Ave Q? It's Sesame Street for adults! I saw it years ago in NYC and am taking some friends to see it in a couple of weeks. I'm excited to see it again, it's so funny!
