I also decided to try cavorting around to "cha cha slide" several times a week. I look ridiculous, and when he says "how low can you go" the clear answer is "NOT VERY"! But it's fun!

I think spinning is out of the question right now - walking is feasible. What about strength training? Do I have to join a gym?

Walking is great exercise! Get yourself a GOOD pair of sneakers and start slow. If you try and do too much too soon, you risk injury and you will quit. Slow and steady wins the race!

The first place to start is with your doctor.
What has he/she given you clearance to do?

I am also headed towards 60, overweight, with arthritis and a myriad of health problem.
I walk, strength train, and spin twice a week...with ALL my doctors' blessings!

My post was just below yours - I'm asking for ideas for a very-out-of-shape nearly-60-years-old woman with joint problems to get started on exercise. Oh: I get short of breath quickly too.

I've just gotten started, and I'm so out of shape. Joint issues, getting winded, and (blush) belly roll in the way. I've posted a request on the exercise board for advice but would love to ask some other boomers for their suggestions as well.
