Over the past 66 days of p90x (and 15lbs/12 inches ago), I have discovered some really awesome tips for staying motivated.
First and foremost, the BIGGEST key to my success so far has been finding a workout program that I LOVE! That's saying a lot for me. I was the kid in P.E. who would walk the mile and start crying during track season to try and get out of having to do it. Basically, I had always loathed fitness and exercise. Until now! I FINALLY realized that I don't have to be killing myself on the treadmill for 3 hours a day just to drop the weight. I discovered that I love weight training. And I found out how helpful it is to have a fun personality talking you through all the workouts :) for the first time in my life, I ENJOY working out. I've never stuck with anything this long - EVER. And i genuinely do feel like I can do this for the rest of my life!
Secondly, keeping track of my workouts is another huge motivating factor. For every workout, I write down how many reps I did, how much weight, if I had to modify, etc etc etc. This way I have a goal to reach/beat every single workout. I can't believe how much more I can do now compared to 10 weeks ago! (taking pictures every couple weeks helps too!)
Thirdly, I started a group on FB for people to just randomly talk about any healthy habits. People can post anything about health or fitness or personal development - it's a free for all! But I make sure to go on first thing every morning and post a new inspirational picture. This is how I keep myself accountable to do my workout and to help encourage others every day. That has helped a lot :)
Anyway, we all need to remember we're human and that nobody's perfect. But that if we fall off our horse, there's no need to accept defeat - we just have to dust ourselves off and jump right back up!
