If you have a smart phone there are tons of free apps you can download that will give you cues during the C25K runs.

Good Luck. I totally recommend Couch to 5K- it started me off from never running to eventually running a marathon. I continue to keep running- it's now my go-to exercise. But the full program is 9 weeks long. But if your goal is to run some of the 5K, it should work for that too.

Most of my friends that run races have started with Couch to 5K. I am going to start it myself shortly.

Couch to 5K is also a great training program to get you from not running at all to running for miles. It definitely worked for me. I had never run a mile straight in my life until I tried C25K and it got me up to running over two miles straight before I hurt myself and had to stop running.

I used the plan at It's a free download and you just run to the beat of the music. Very motivating music also.

Just completed day 1 week 3 for the 5k virtual walk/jog race. I feel pretty good. emoticon

First 5k for the American Heart Association coming up. Great at walking, but would like to run some. What are your best ideas for training in the next 5 weeks?
